If you care to PM/Email me I can tell you about working in an airport - I assume a part time position in retail?
If so, feel free.

Hey,

I'm not thinking about retail so much, more acustomer service type person - not necessarily check in desks, but maybe administrative....I don't know really, I just quite fancy the idea, lol.

I get you lol yeah working in an airport has a sort of buzz to it especially if work airside (within security zone).

Can tell you a bit about any airport jobs going really, I know a lot about aviation in general, (well I just love airports like you I suppose lol!) airports, aircraft and planning to get a career in aviation industry soon....

Just ask if want me to explain any of the ground jobs and what they involve, such as ramp agents (a.k.a baggage handlers), check-in staff, passenger service agents even airline pilots etc.

Cheers

Working in the airport can be great or a load of *******s. I've worked at Heathrow part/full time for nearly 2 years.

If it's quiet, then it's a load of piss, but if it's busy (ie. during school holiday periods)...good God.

And the hours are crap too. My roster was 3 early shifts (0530-1400), 3 late shifts (1430-2300) and 3 days off.

I think retail is your best bet, because airlines do not tend to take on students wanting a temporary job, because when **** hits the fan (eg. cancelled flights or overweight bags), you really need someone who can deal with these *****.

But the girls are unbelievably fit at the check in desks which helps.

I worked at Heathrow for a while myself - worked over the summer between A levels and uni as lounge supervisor for Quantas. Really good work, basically serving first/business class passengers food and drink before they board their flight. Pay was excellent (£7.40-£9/hr depending what times I worked), and with tips on top of this I would easily be clearing £300-400 a week. And they don't mind temps either!

There's a pdf file on the connexions website about working at airports around the country. I only read it the other day (interested for next summer myself!) and will try and find it in the morning
