So how many lectures are we going to have per week (and in hrs)?

oh. maybe 17-18 hrs in total, with lectures and seminars. you'll soon realise which of them are beneficial for your learning process and which ones rather constitute unlearning.

and you will swear a lot about having to take like 150 cats in your first year, as opposed to the people doing single honours degrees such as politics, sociology, history or english, who will be doing 120 cats only. you will share this fate with economists and epais people, but you will still feel a bit better because your modules overlap much less.

and you will scream when you realise the sociology people get one hour for each essay during exams, whilst you will have to scribble down your philosophical arguments at a rate of one essay per forty minutes.

but ppe is great, you'll hopefully get to challenge yourself. best of luck.

thanks:smile:. I was wondering if it possible to combine those "challenging" studies with part time work.

i dont like the sound of PPE anymore lol

i only applied for it cos i got A in politics and only B in economics. i'm an economist at heart really...

How much reading will i have to do? cos i am a really slow reader and much prefer listening/falling asleep to reading...

Just drop the politics in the second year like I'll be doing. I wanna end up with a BSc neways so I'm gonna make economics my major.

I don't know what I'll be doing. I know I want to keep politics and economics but am unsure which to major/minor in. If I can cope with the maths, probably economics but otherwise politics.

Just out of interest, how much extra work do you have to do on top of that and how hard are the maths courses?

What maths class are people going to be taking. A or B?

I'm sure that will be fine. I'm a little worried as I only have a B at AS maths, so I know I'll be in A but I want to do econometrics, so I'm going to have to work my arse off to get into the B statistics class. Plus I haven't done any maths for two years now

I want to take B as well but I only took Math SL for IB (I did get a 7 though :p:) but yea.. lets see.

How many people do you think have been accepted for this course? I know no one here in Bangkok (out of the 25+ whose going) who'll be doing the PPE and in here, on TSR, there seems to be only a few, maybe 8 or 9, people doing this course.

We're off to a good start . Where are you staying?

Reply 11

I think there are roughly 50 people - this is what I remember when I was looking at a statistics link from last year, but I'd have no idea where to find it again. I'll let you know if I do though

Yup, flatmate did it fine last year, despite being a raving alcoholic and having many female cleaning duties in our flat!

it depends on how you define "much"

Ok. I found the link for the 2005 intake. It's not 2006 but it's probably similar. I knew it was on TSR somewhere
