Nottingham University Card Photo

Hi,
I got that e-mail about the Nottingham University Card and I just wanted to know about the photo you have to supply. Does it have to be a passport photo or can it be a normal one cut down to passport size? I'm guessing i'm just going to have to scan a passport photo in if we have to use those, is that what other people have done?

Any help would be much appreciated! I was thinking of doing this tonight so the quicker the better if anyone has time (im going out tomorrow and it has to be done by the 12th September - yes, I should have got it sorted earlier but I kept forgetting!)

I'm having trouble with this also... in that I don't have a scanner or digital camera... how am I supposed to do what they ask?! :smile:

I have to say its strange of them to ask for a photo of size 1.4x1.4 and 420x420 pixels. It can be difficult to achieve.

yeah wasn't the best idea they've ever had...

what i did was find a photo of me on my computer, crop it and change the size to 420x420 pixels, and just use tht. I think it was a photo of me from my 18th birthday party!

dunno if its right, can't change it now anyway, once you've submitted it and logged off, u can't get back on! so make it count!

In theory it can be a normal photo cut down, but you want it to be a relatively formalistic photo ie no drunken nights out with stupid expressions being pulled.

I took one with my mobile's cam and send it to them without any problems whatsoever. Thank g-d for the reminder email! I had totally forgotten about it!

Guys i didnt use a pasport photo, I went onto paint and clicked EDIT then PASTE FROM, then just picked a pic of me on holiday this year an shrank it till it was 1.4inch by 1.4 inch (u can see its size if u click on ATTRIBUTES - its at the top somewhere) i hope 2 god i have done it right!! paint is abit annoyin it takes a lot of messin but u'll get there!! :p:

I just uploaded my photo today, and it's the deadline so we'll see how that works out. I'm super confused as well since i set it to 420x420 pixels and in inches it's definitely 1.2 but 5.something, so i'm letting them figure that one out i guess.

I uploaded my pic today as well after the reminder. It was a bit blurry as I had to scale it up but as it's gonna be scaled back down it should be alright.

I imagine there are going to be an awful lot of poor quality images with their silly 420x420px requirement. Normal passport photos are a 1:1.4 ratio so either you stretch the image or add pointless white space as I did.

omg i just realised that photo that i supplied is 660x932. altho it did come up fine on the page.
no wonder they sent me a reminder email even tho i filled the form like a week ago!
and i cant log in. aw well....hopefully i wont need a libriary during my first week.

I think what they where asking was a bit harsh. I mean I was lucky enough to have some decent digital photographs and was able to get it to the right size in photoshop cs2 and the knowledge of how to do it, but I would imagine the majority of people don't.

Ok, so i've found a photo that I think will possibly be okay...it originally had me and my friend on and I can cut my face out so its just me, but its still too many pixels. Does anyone know how to shrink/compress a photo so I can get it to the 420 x 420 pixels it needs to be? (I don't have photoshop by the way)
