There's an area called Hanover just off Lewes Road in town which has a good pub on just about every corner

Also like Evening Star (next to station) and Waggon and Horses (next to Pavillion)

Thats a good thing about Brighton - the pubs are brilliant !! Theres loads of them with loads of character and atmosphere. I've been here for six months and I dont feel I've done more than scratched the surface, although its not for want of trying

On the downside they are all expensive unless you're used to London prices - I reckon the cheapest place to get a drink will be campus. And as for the real beer...well put it this way, the quality is often debatable

The Prodigal, which is reopening as varsity, used to do £1.25 per drink and 2 for 1 on mondays and wednesdays. Im praying it still will. Other good deals are thursdays at the font, cheap cocktails, excellent pre clubbing.
The evening star rules, definitely my favourite pub in terms of atmosphere and the variety of booze on offer! I didn't find it too expensive, real ale is usually a tad stronger than the piddly beer you get in most pubs anyway.

that stuff has an effect on the human body similar to that of paint thinner, so i suggest you check B&Q

similarly, does anywhere sell hop-back ales? I'll go mental without a pint of summer lightning!

Scrumptious.

You see what I've done there? No? I'll get me coat...

But yes: I'm way too much of a lightweight to have a night on Old Rosie!
Scrumptious.

I GEDDIT!

If you're remotely into anything alternative everyone will tell you to go to the Pavillion Tavern (PavTav), don't do it, it'll be entirely rammed with either emo's or old men (there doesn't appear to be a pattern, it's just one of those things), and the cost of a double vodka seems to vary wildly on a weekly basis.
I think I tried Old Rosie Cider a while ago. Very strange aftertaste. Blech.

Mmm, emos and old men. My favourites.

It's easy to drink this stuff by the bucketload because there's no gas and it goes down a TREAT. However, this makes it all the more lethal. So what are the average prices for a pint around Brighton then? It's about £2.50 over here.. I've heard prices are fairly similar?
