Has anyone got some ideas of how the idea of 'Progress' is explored in this text and how these ideas link with other American Lit texts such as 'The Great Gatsby' and 'All My Sons'?

Hm, contrast of Blanche's background (social classes, inferiority of black people) with the atmosphere in New Orleans (multicultural, everyone equal) could be seen as showing the progress society has made.

Also there's a part where Blanche describes Stanley as 'ape-like' and says something about how the human race has made some progress (culture, art, music etc) since the days of cavemen.
