Tesco Application Process

I posted an application through to Tesco a few weeks ago which has since closed. It closed on the 3rd of December and my application still says In Process still. Does anyone know what this could mean or what significance it has in terms of the process? It hasn't changed since the closing date and I'm curious to the meaning of this - if anyone can shed some light on it then that would be greatly appreciated.

3rd of September?

Yes it closed on the 3rd of September and it's said In Process about a day or two before the closing date and has since remained at "In Process"

Hi, i have applied for four jobs at Tesco's on 22nd and 23rd of September 2014 and each time i have this message, Thank you for your interest in applying for our Customer Assistant - Nights - Part Time.

Some of our roles require you to complete a questionnaire in order to submit your application. Please ensure you have completed this if the role requires you to. Click here to log in to your account. I did the questionnaire.

I applied in June and they let me know within a couple of day's that i was unsuccessful, i changed a couple of questions and my application just say's in process, i just wanted to ask if have made it through the questions phase.

Also one of Tesco stores i applied at my dad sister in law is a manger there and she said she doesn't handle recruitment but she will have a word about me, and mum got talking to this woman who works at my local Tesco the other one i applied at and she said she would have a word with the recruitment team about me because they are short staffed on nights.

I was hoping for some advice if anyone can help thanks in advance.

I would say get in touch with them and ask them what's going on..

I'm in the same situation at the moment. Does anyone know what happens next? I see these posts are a few months old now

I emailed recruitment after being "in process" for a couple of months, instead of getting a reply, one of my many jobs turned into "unsuccessful". the others remain in the same status.

I say its a good thing that they are in process, it shows you are still in the running for the jobs, theres still hope!

I was told they operate on a point system, whoever gets the most points get contacted first for a job offer, the rest gets put onto a waiting list.

hey Kim thanks for this knowledge about the Tesco point system, i actually applied to two more nights positions on 22/10/14 and they called me up for interview last Wednesday (12/11/14) my birthday to come in the following day for interview. The interview went great very easy if you have worked in customer service or team environment the questions are easy, i told her at the end of the interview i had another interview the following day and that Tesco was my first choice (i only live 10 mins away) and if i turn down the other position and something goes wrong here I'm in that situation and interviewer said "you have yes from me and that i have passed" she said i really like your ideas so i took that as being offered the position.

She told me we have a deadline and need to get the interviews done so hopefully should hear back Saturday which is now last saturday, i haven't heard anything back yet i hoping to hear back by now so i could relax for the induction which is this saturday coming. At the end of the interview she told that me she as another 10 hours of interviews and was interviewing from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday.

That's a lot of people and i now think they might changed there minds or it means there a lot of people that that they have to do the checks to see if everybody is okay to work.

Did they ask you to take your details (passport and such) with you? I had a call today fr an interview on Thursday and she said to bring bank details and stuff? Is that a good sign or?

Reply 9

Yes i took mine they photocopy everyone's details in advance, its like sainsbury ask for your uniform size before offering the job these supermarkets all do uncanny things.

They need to know that you have right to work that's why you need to bring the forms in.

^ Funny you should mention about Sainsbury's, I just got a job from them, sick of waiting for Tesco. Its temp xmas job but hopefully it will turn permanent as they did say they were short staffed and good hours too, 12hours per week, evening work over 3 days.

I say since its coming up to the busiest time of the year (xmas). Tesco shouldn't be too fussy on who they take on now, but in saying so, theres like hundreds of applicants going for one job, so still hard to get in.

Most will say they are flexible regarding work time so what it boils down to is who is willing to work public/bank holidays and live closest to the store so they can travel to work by foot if they usually rely on public transport and who they can contact to step in for colleagues that can't make it in or sick. I literally live 2 mins walk from my local Tesco store..

The best thing about applying for Tesco is if you past the online test, get a job interview and assuming you haven't totally messed that up, you are placed on the waiting list, they will offer you a job, just depends on how long you will wait. Now we just play the waiting game, LOL!

Unlike Sainsbury's where you are limited to applying for one application only within 6 months, I tried to apply for another role and got rejected so thats how I know. Tesco lets you apply as many as you like and the pay is more.

congratulations on the Sainsbury position, i remember when i took the test i thought are they having me on with the assessment, what do you think is wrong in this picture missing labels, empty shelves, prices mixed up spillages on floor etc i thought it can't be just them but it was lol.

I am getting frustrated by Tesco i called them last Wednesday and this woman in a stern voice "your back to work details haven't come in yet when they come in we will call you". I can't keep on waiting, other 2014 threads a lot of people are in the same position about Tesco. Tesco don't update anything in your careers account saying you had interview where sainsbury do they send a txt plus email.

I got a voice mail yesterday from B&Q wanting me to call back (just when writing they called lol) got booked in for assessment tomorrow morning.

^ Hey, how did it go at B&Q? Hope you get it!

Yeah Tesco is slow and needs to show further progress other than "in process" for those that had interviews or waiting for one. Sainsbury's is so much efficient comparing to them. I had interview on Fri, got email on Saturday for job offer and telling me to phone them to accept or decline it, I phoned straight away, checked my online status and it says "hired":colone:.

For Sainsbury's I had to walk around the store listing the good and bad things about the store. After that, taken back to room and to say what sort of things I would change or do to make the store better. The interview was informal and relaxed. I didn't have to watch DVDs and answer questions which I expected when I read about other peeps that attended Sainsbury's job interviews.

Tesco interviews I think is a lot simplier well for me, I didn't have to do a role play, it was very informal where they asked about my flexibility, a few customer service based questions and when can I start work. Then they took me out to the shop floor where I have to watch how the check out works and offer to help customers bag their groceries and after that, interview over!

I had an interview 2 weeks ago it went really well, then had a call to take in my right to work documents in on a Friday evening, Monday morning (before they'd been sent off) I had email to say if been unsuccessful!! why ask for my documents if they weren't offering me a job?
and what is this right to work? I'm a white British born national of course I have every right to work in the UK I have done since I was 15!!
Majorly fed up I think the process is strange now they have copies of my passport birth certificate and marriage license for what?

I would call and double check with Tesco's might have been a mistake, when i was working there when my jobs account with them said i had been unsuccessful and i was working there so there carees system is badly floored.

The rights to work is because they got fined a few years ago quite a lot of money for hiring illegal immigrants, mine took two weeks to come back.

It probably came up as that as they didn't update it manually. I've been working there 5 weeks and last time I checked it said in progress. My right to work came back in 6 days... Like somebody else said, Tesco had issues with employing illegal immigrants so that is why it takes a while.
