GCSE Maths- surds homework, somebody pls help me

Hey, I'm stuck on my maths homework. The question is:

Simplify: 2 root 18 x 3 root 2. Can somebody run through this one with me so I can do the rest of them please? Thanks.
Try dividing up the 18 so you're left with 2 by itself.

think this is how you do it:

2 root 18 x 3 root 2

2 root 9x2 x 3 root 2

2x3 root 2 x 3 root 2

6 root 2 x 3 root 2

18 root 2

Root 18 can be written as root 2 x root 9
Root 9 is 3 so root 18 ends up simplified to 2 x (3 x root 2)
So you have 2 x 3 x root 2 x 3 x root 2
So 2x3x3=18
Root 2 x root 2 is 2 so
18x2=36
I think anyway, if that makes sense :smile:

Giving full solutions is generally frowned upon. In any case, that's incorrect.

2 root 18 x 3 root(2)=

2 root(2 x 9) x 3 root(2)=

3 x 2 root(2) x 3 root(2)=

6 root(2) x 3 root(2)=

18 x 2=

36

Why do people keep giving incorrect solutions. :facepalm:

OP, see jared777's post for the correct method.

2 root 18 x 3 root(2)=

2 root(2 x 9) x 3 root(2)=

3 x 2 root(2) x 3 root(2)=

6 root(2) x 3 root(2)

wat do at dis point

From there you've got
6xroot(2)x3xroot(2) = 6x3xroot(2)xroot(2) =
18x2=36

Yeah I also got this. I realised that I double 18, and wrote 32... I'm such a noob. Thanks.
