hey
There are loads and loads of boarding schools - what kind of things would your sister be looking for?
Sporty?
In the city or in the countryside?
Lots of different activites or very academic?
Big or Small?
Mixed or Single Sex?
What kind of price per year are you wanting/able to pay?

Then I can suggest you some lol!!

i know some in southwest england that are really good in terms of academics so you thats the area you're looking for you can pm me or something.
If she wants a decent school academically then you can't really beat Sevenoaks. That's where I'd have wanted to go had I had the full options at the age of 11! But I can't complain, my school was good too (but all boys).
Hogwarts...
High Wycombe Abbey is suppost to be good. One of my friends went there.

But it depends what she's into...Wycombe Abbey is v.v.v.v.v.v.v academic. Some of the cleverest people I know have switched from Wycombe to my school becasue they thought it was to pressured and a bit prison-like. But then again, if the person has a very academic focus, it would be a great place to get top grades.

hi!
i am looking for a good boarding school for girls (mix is alright), as long as it is a good school (in the sense that it is 'all-rounded') /safe for my 14 year old sister whom my mother wants to send to UK to study.

any recommendations?

it would be good if it is near london area but it is alright even if it is in the country side.

thanks,

Is she in 9th or 10th grade? When I turned 14 (right before Christmas vacation 1st semster) I was in 8th grade and turned 15 in 9th grade.

There are loads of good boarding schools. You need to think about what the priorities are in choosing a school. Ignore the league tables; a lot of boarding schools have international students that are in the wrong year for their age, so they aren't represented properly in the tables.

Price is a big factor for a lot of people. Do you want a religious school? Does she want to take the IB (in which case Sevenoaks is the way to go) or A Levels? What subjects would she want to take for GCSEs? Does she want to go to a school with strong extra curiccular activities? A school with a large international contingent?

See if you can buy a copy of the Good School's Guide or see if you can get any recomendations from friends in your own country.

Finally, good luck!
What about Shrewsbury. Heard that's good.

One more to add to the list of good mixed school (ex all boys) is Ampleforth!
sevenoaks as much as i hate that school for being amazingly better than mine at the IB and being private etc etc it is immense and im sure most people would like to be part of a school where 10% of the 45 pointers for IB went last year :p: lol

How about Roedean? It's all girls, and in Brighton which is about an hour by train from London. Huge international community as well (not just Chinese as the newspapers like to make out).
i went to wycombe abbey and i'm not academic at all.

didn't do any work, handed everything in a week late.

but i did good. 3 a's lol. so you don't have to be academically minded.
