Strong or Prescription deodorant/antiperspirant.

Hi,
Not a lot seems to work for me to stop me sweating in my underarm area even when im just walking around town or something. Don't think i have hyperhidrosis because it doesent affect me anywhere else. Oh and Im well past the stage of puberty now so its likely not to be hormonal. Does anyone have any recommendations as to anything to try? Or does anyone use prescription antiperspirant?
Cheers for any help

Not tried it, but seen some stuff in Boots that lasts 3-6 days and you put it on after a shower. No idea if it's any good or if it's even healthy to use.

Have you tried Driclor? (I think that's how you spell it)
That's meant to be pretty strong ... you should be able to get it from most chemists ... or if they don't have it ask them if they can order you some in.

Oh, I have the exact same problem with excessive sweating underarms, but I also sweat a lot on my head and down there. I think it's to do with the fact that I'm fat, so I've got too much fat insulation, and I heat up easily.

Yeah, I can personally reccommend Driclor. I tend to have really clammy/sweaty palms - nowhere else, just on my hands (weirdass genetics, thanks dad). I did try it on my underarms too a while back (because I thought it would be fun if I could get through a PE lesson and not sweat), so I can say it stings like a bastard if you've shaved recently: it's very much alcohol-based.

You apply it last thing at night, at first every night but then you can slacken off to once or twice a week, two weeks, etc and eventually you don't need to use it much at all. It's a bit weird when you wash it off in the morning, as it seems to 'absorb' soap for a bit, but it's really fine.

Good luck! (oh, and just a note, it might not be behind the counter... it was for a few years but recently I spotted it near the deodorants section in Boots and Superdrug).

Are you a girl or a guy? Cos randomly male anti-persperant deoderants are stronger and more effective that the girls version - i used to have a bit of an underarm sweat issue until i bought a good old Sure for men deoderant (i'm a girl btw)! I use the "oringinal" smell roll-on one cos it doesn't have a distincitve male smell and if you spray some flowery body spray over the top nobody knows you're wearing one meant for guys and it keeps me sweat free and happy.

I have that Driclor stuff - it reacts with ANY moisture that happens to be around when you put it on. I used it once and didnt realise i had to be bone dry, and my underarms were red, sore and cracked for about 4 days afterwards.

Sooooo..... if you're going to use it (i havent plucked up the courage to use it again yet...).... i suggest blasting your pits with a hairdryer set to cold for a few minutes, just to make sure.

And for the love of god, dont shave less than about 8 hours before applying! lol.

There's stuff called mitogen? That's meant to be really good.

The idea of wearing this stuff really scares me. It's so strong and the one I used used to sting when I applied it for the first few months; if you're a girl, you can't shave under your arms very often either because it's dangerous and painful to apply most of these to irritated or broken skin. Most of them contain Aluminium, which was what worried me the most because there have been studies linking it to Alzheimer's...I know scare studies come out daily saying this and that, but putting something that strong on your body can't do any good.

Another poster mentions using male deodorant, which is a good idea. Obviously non-scented! There is stuff called Anhydrol Forte which you can get on prescription, which I had, or you could ask in Boots; I noticed they've recently started stocking strong deodorants. With the anhydrol forte you wear it every other night and wash off in the morning, I think, but if you have sensitive skin...it's not nice. I stopped using it because it worried me and I seem to have grown out of the problem.

If you're a teenager, just hope that you grow out of it, because it is quite likely that you will. Otherwise, there's all sorts of fun things you can have like botox in your armpits...

why dont you get fit? or start exercising regularly? as that'll sort out your sweatyness.

Driclor does really work. But I don't like to use it that often due to the strength. I try and persevere with strong deodorants from the shelf.

My mate had this problem and absolutely nothing worked so I gave him 'the rock'. Its natural so you're not putting chemicals so close to glands which is good, check it out, it really is a miracle worker and is better for you than regular anti perspirants

I am fit, i go to the gym about 5 times a week on average as well as playing sports. I don't think theres a correlation somehow in this case.

Thanks for all the tips everyone, keep them coming.

For the love of god don't use it for a good 18-24 hours! Argh the pain! But I gotta say that driclor does the job, I'd reccomend it to anyone
