Also sorry to hear about rejections. Osmosis looks as if you have other good offers anyway.

Ah, thanks. Guess it's combined arts being slow again...
Arg, I know I've said this before, and I know I'm just impatient, blablabla, but seriously, is it normal for an application to be accepted by the department within 2 weeks, and then be at the college deciding stage for over 2 months?! I don't care about getting the offer through or knowing which college I'm in; I just want to know which open day I'm on so I can sort it out!

Well...it took me about 2 months, 1 week for mine to get from accepted by university to accept by college and an offer.

Or else they might point to my GCSEs and give me the "Unfortunately there was a B present" line.

Sorry to hear about your rejection man, that sucks.

You can stop worrying about your GCSEs though, I only had 4*, 5A and a B, with no excuse as my school was fantastic, and I somehow got a Law offer over 1400 AAA applicants, and 700 others! I was specifically told that Durham couldn't care less about GCSEs as long as they're not all Es or something lol! Maybe that's just Law though...

Yep, my GCSE's are almost identical (I have another A). Law is possibly the most competitive course though. If law doesn't care about GCSE's (although to fair Dan we could have done worse), then which subject will?

(Edit, having pondered this); Hmm I should answer that myself though-possibly one without an LNAT...

I still haven't heard anything from combined honours in arts (want to do English & French) - should I be concerned?

No not at all, Durham are notorious about taking their time and may wait til late feb/march to let you know - especially combined hons in arts, I was unsuccessful last week so I'd say no news is good news at the moment, nice choice of subjects and best of luck with your app.

Lol! Yeah, to be fair, we could have done much worse, but to get into one of the most competitive and popular subjects around at a top 5 uni for it, I think it's expected that unless you have an excuse, i.e. terrible school, bereavement etc, you should be applying with at least mostly As and A*s, and preferrably 5+ A*. I am in no doubt whatsoever that it was my LNAT score (24) that gave my application the boost it needed to get me my offer.

I'm pretty sure they don't allocate you an open day, you get to choose between the two. That seems to be implied with mine anyways.
still nothing for Economics @ Castle :frown:
still aint heard for Maths at collingwood, applied in early novemeber

God Bless the LNAT.

Anyway I prefer to think that the fact we only got 4*'s shows that we're fun people who didn't work our socks off when we were 16 and decided to have a good time instead...
