Because it's at Mary's or because of other offers?

Mostly because I think I'd be better off at St Andrews.. but I might have considered Durham had I got an offer from the Castle... and I mean St Mary's... seriously..

Wtf?

What's wrong with St. Mary's? Or are you just jumping on a bandwagon?

I'm not just jumping on the bandwagon.. It's a hill college fairly far away from the languages department and doesn't seem to have much of a positive rep from what i gather. But more seriously I would have been foolish to choose Durham simply because I liked the idea of living in the castle.. and that's the only reason I would have considered it. It's not so much about the College or place per se.. it's more about the languages department which isn't much cop for spanish whilst St Andrews is pretty good.

1. Ew, Castle.
2. Yeah it's a whole 10 minutes walk, for the first year you live in and the 10 hours of contact time you have a week
3.It has a crappy bar, but nice accomodation and really nice grounds
4.Anyone who goes to Durham because they want to live in a castle will be personally executed by me.

Defo. St Andrews is fantastic. Congrats on the place and good luck there!

It's going to suck being a Law student on the Hill. But then again, Mildert has a billion positive things that I love about it, which is why I chose it!!

....?
What Ali was trying to say is that Mary's is at the bottom of the hill, basically at the smae level as the library, so it's not a long walk to Elvet Riverside where the mod langs dept is.
Lucho, are you going to come up for the open day? I'd recommend it, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Sorry.. no can do. I'm off to Argentina on the 7th March for the best part of 5 months - so I have to make my decision on the info I have, and St Andrews wasn't intolerable, so I reckon I'd have an ok time there.. Ali is completely right - execution for simply wanting to live in the castle would be perfectly appropriate.. so it's good fortune that I wasn't given an offer by it

*shuffles uncomfortably*

ANYWAY...

Just checking - has anyone heard back from the philosophy/theology departments yet? All of the people I know who have applied to Durham seem to have heard back one way or another by now. I know we've still got a month till the end of March, I just really wanna know! :P

The hill really isnt that far away! It'll only take you 15 mins to walk in to town (which is where the lectures are) and I don't think law students have that much contact time anyway.

The way people talk about this hill as if it is some massive mountain that has to be trecked up and down daily... pfft!
