I'm generally taking the piss with my posts but in all seriousness the order of ability of students and quality of course+prestige goes as follows: Durham BIG jump Birmingham jump Leicester
Yup. For Law there is a huge gap between Durham and the others. Whereas Durham is a consistent top 5 uni for the subject, the other two rarely feature in the top 20. Birmingham hangs around the bottom sometimes. Of course, if you get LSE, then you will have to choose between London and Durham, and they're equal enough in terms of reputation and prestige to make the choice nice and justifiable with personal preference .
Woop woop guys, I got a letter from Durham today... BBB for Archaeology at Chad's! I thought for sure I'd been passed to another college, because it's been over 2 months since I was accepted by dept.

elyim - congrats, are you off to the open day ? lucia - sorry to hear about the rejection. they can only say no about giving the reasons for rejection. Where abouts are ou hoping to go now ?
I also just checked the UCAS track and there was the dreaded rejection. Suppose I may as well phone up to ask as well and give the admissions people something to do. I'm sure they don't have many people contacting them
Now got to decided whether to a) go to Nottingham or b) just go for Economics at Durham and perhaps consider trying to swap once I'm there. May turn out to be a good thing as I was starting to fear that I may have regretted doing too much maths anyway
EDIT: Is it just the normal number/email you would contact them by that it says on the website or will there be a specific admissions contact?

Thank you for the sympathy I'm not sure actually. I have offers from great unis. Always look on the bright side of life ;yes;
I just emailed Durham to ask why they rejected me. I hope I've emailed the right person
Aww, big hugs and chocolate to everybody who's been rejected today. I'm sure that you'll be happy elsewhere once rejectee emotions have calmed down a bit .
Just checking - has anyone heard back from the philosophy/theology departments yet? All of the people I know who have applied to Durham seem to have heard back one way or another by now. I know we've still got a month till the end of March, I just really wanna know! :P
Yeah i'm in for philosophy at castle How about u? xxx

Ah, it must be the stupid theology department then. Congrats on your offer from castle though - i've applied there too! You never know, we might be sharing philosophy lectures. :P
^I'm pretty sure that it means that they're going to make you an offer, you've been passed to your college of choice to see if they have room for you. If not, you'll be passed to another randomly selected college.
YAY!!!! I'm soooo happy! Will they send me a letter/e-mail to tell me which college, or will it come through on UCAS/Durham Track??
You'll get an offer letter through the post from the college once they've made a decision, and it'll come through on UCAS as well. For me it appeared on UCAS the same afternoon I got the letter, but I suppose that depends how slow the post is! Durham Track is the slowest of the slow...
