You'll get an offer letter through the post from the college once they've made a decision, and it'll come through on UCAS as well. For me it appeared on UCAS the same afternoon I got the letter, but I suppose that depends how slow the post is! Durham Track is the slowest of the slow...

Well done, btw

Haha- as they say in the ghetto; "tru say dat." You were one of the lucky ones! Some of us had to wait a tad longer for Durham track to update itself.

hi winnie! I think in your durham track you will have a link to one of the colleges. that would probably be the college you have been sent to.

In that case my application must have been sent to Trevs first
I currently have an unconditional offer to study law at Durham. I was also offered the following "Award." Can someone who is familiar with this, explain to me what exactly the following is:

Course Awards

M101: Law
Max Hunter Memorial Bursary
THE MAX HUNTER MEMORIAL BURSARY, In memory of Max Hunter, who was killed in Israel on 12 August 1997, a fund has been set up with donations from relatives, friends and colleagues. From the proceeds, a Bursary will be awarded to an undergraduate law student to provide financial assistance towards the cost of travel to a meeting or to visit another institution while in pursuit of their studies. The award will be made on the recommendation of the Board of Studies in Law.
Type: Other Scholarships/Prizes/Bursaries for Students in Residence (I)

In other words, Durham is offering to fly me over to the UK so that I can visit the campus prior to classes starting in October?

Thank you!!!

That's outstanding! Though, I'm not sure it's so you can go and visit. Maybe it's to pay for your flight to get there and back at the start and end of each term? Or just one term, who knows how much it is. Ring them and find out what in particular they're awarding it to you for?

No, sounds to me like they're offering to fund travel to 'a meeting' or a law conference etc. 'whilst in pursuit of your studies'; i.e. when you're there.

Well seeing as he's from Canada I'd guess it's quite likely they're applying that to his travel to Durham.

Just in case anyone's interested I e-mailed Durham asking for feedback on my rejection for Nat-Sci from this response. Seems to be quite reasonable reasoning, unless they just made it up
I am sorry we were unable to make you an offer for Natural Sciences. We thought that you were capable of completing the degree programme.

However, we have received over 1100 applicants for 2007 entry into Natural Sciences and we can only make approximately 700 offers to fill our quota of 201 places. The vast majority of the 1100 applicants are very very good and it has been difficult to be unable to make offers to very good candidates. Also there has been particularly strong competition to study Mathematics within Natural Sciences and as a result we have favoured candidates who have taken A2 or AS Further Maths. One aspect that we have also considered is the number of A*s at GCSE and although your record is very good there were stronger candidates than you.
