Trevs students have a reputation for being uncomfortable in rooms with a mere 4 walls.

Lol  I don't mind that reputation!

Looks like I'm out for Durham 2007 - I've been I'll and am not going to get my grades, and Durham have said that they can't make allowances. If no other unis will make allowances for me either, which they probably won't, I might be back for 2009 entry :eek2:

Talk to your teachers/head of 6th form/ head of college.

If you have been so ill that you've missed substantial periods of lessons, they may let you skip the exams and just give you your predicted grades. I know one guy in my year's doing this after missing 4 weeks of school and not being well afterwards.

Well, I was told last Tuesday (the Tuesday rumours are true!) that my application for philosophy and theology had been unsuccessful. :frown:

I've just written an e-mail to Durham admissions along the lines of 'WHY DON'T YOU WANT ME?!?' as i'm re-applying next year. Good luck to the rest of you! I'll be back in this forum this time next year. :P

Sorry about that :frown:

Good Luck to your next year!

6 months and i'll be moving down to Durham for 4 years...thats really scary  !

Scary it is. I'm also doing engineering and really looking forward to it, but the idea of 4 years (physically and mentally the best 4 of your life) in Durham is quite worrying.

I just think that within the first 24 hours i'll have experienced all of the clubs in Durham.
Within the first month, all of the pubs.
And within the first term experienced all of the best things in Durham.

I really want to hit the ground running, as it were.

My first planned activity, after unpacking is a swim across the Wear and back, right beneath the Castle.

I'm worried that I might get bored of the town after the first three years, especially as many of our friends will leave. And being 22 having lived in the same town for four years, you may have grown bored of having similar nights out as you had back as an 18 year old fresher.

Still, the first term will be the happiest of my life, i'm sure.

It's probably a clique of bailey freshers, but i intend to take college rivalry and trophying to another level. I'm talking releasing sheep in other colleges, pouring sacks of 2p's into Hatfields soup of the day and military level darkness operations to remove Hatfield plaques from the side of their buildings, and putting large items on their roof (got to put that engineering training to good use).

I'm a firm believer that its not the place that will make the time memorable, it's the people you meet there. Even after four years at Durham, there's no way you'll have got to know everyone, you'll still be meeting new awesome people in your final year.

Don't forget that Newcastle is just up the road, and it'll take a considerable amount of time to get around all the bars and clubs there.

Also, remember that each college has its own bar - a total of 17.

As for the antics regarding other colleges, I am seriously looking forward to a strong sense of friendly rivalry between the colleges... :p: And I may have to resort to 'alternative' methods not unlike the one's you've suggested (I've not got much of a sporting pedigree...)

Haha! I'm loving all your ideas about college antics!

I do think it will be the people that you meet that will make it for us all! I'm definately up for stealing some ducks from Mildert, hehe!

I think the first challenge should be to get drunk in every college bar  can't wait!

I think this would be very memorable to watch, as you would probably get sucked into the weir on the Wear and maybe die.

but i intend to take college rivalry and trophying to another level.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, the question is, why?

a total of 17

There are 17 colleges?!

As a prospective Mildertian, I won't be too happy if the beloved ducks go missing. :p:

Yeah but out of those:
John Snow and Stephenson share a bar, the Rocket (I thnk), Ushaw Moor has 40 students,is 7 miles out of Durham and I don't think it has a bar and Marys bar is ****.
Correspondingly, a college bar crawl consists of:
Hild Bede
Castle
Hatfield
Chads
Johns
Cuths
Marys (optional if you have taste)
Trevs
Aidans
Mildert
Butler
Collingwood
Grey
Which amounts to 13 bars.

Still sounds like a damn good bar crawl to me!!! Although, i would like to start at the hill bars first...then again, the hill may not seem that steep after a few drinks!

was reading back a bit about the reputations of various colleges! Whats the stereotype for cuths then! xxxxx
Reply 1356
Dunno if there is one, they get drunk a lot?

The problem of doing hill bars first is you need to go down the hil from Mildert to Grey, back up to Collingwood and Butler, then across the road to Mildert, up to Aidans, back down a hill and across the road to Trevs, then down past Marys to Cuths, it's all a lot of faff!

Well, getting drunk in every college would be extremely hard, after you get stabbed in Queens.....
Why Hatfield :frown:
