The advice I've been given from the parents was this:

"You have a budget of £80 per week. Every Monday (or Sunday or whatever), withdraw £80 in cash from your bank account. Use it to buy everything you need - food, socialising etc. Don't use your card for anything. If you spend the cash before the week is up, tough sh*t."

Simple, really

haha.. well that works!

although i find with me, when i have cash in my purse it goes to nothing. i've been known to have over £100 in my purse & it withers down to about £3.50 in less than an hour... I have a budget of £77 a week, and two bank accounts- a student account & a savings account. I plan to move all of my loan into my savings account as soon as I get it, and every week transfer £77 over to my main account. They're both with HSBC so i can do that instantly with the internet banking service.

I'm the same with cash - though as far as I can remember, there are no department stores that sell expensive makeup, no Lush (skincare) shops and not many clothes and shoe shops in Aber, so I should hopefully be able to control my shopping urges

heheh, i agree with you there

I have to say though, Ribena is a good choice of luxury!

My luxury will be Warburton's bread. Can't have anything else other than Warburtons.. noooo!

Hate to burst your bubble, but they don't do Warburtons as far south as Aber, so you can't get it :frown:

They do sell it in Bangor, we played a footie match there once and people thought I was strange buying a loaf of Super Toastie when we stopped at a supermarket. I had to rely on trips home to get a loaf.
