Can you recognise all these objects in one go or are you having to recognise them ONE BY ONE?

In a way, more of the recognition processes of the human brain.

Oh ok.
I looked at the picture and recognised a few things immediately but also took longer to look at each object.

So you would say it's one by one?

Not entirely sure what you mean, but I glanced over them and knew what they were fairly instantly.

You have to look at each individually to consciously recognise. If glimpsed though... you might find that people can recognise, or feel a preference, for the ones they saw. As far as I know :P

Would probably result in false recall for household items though, I'm guessing.
There are probably studies on this using eye tracking stuff.

So you would say it's one by one?
I looked at all of the objects in clusters of 4/5 not exactly one by one.
Don't think I'm making sense

I knew they were recognisable objects all at once

My eye was caught through colour so I started to fully recognise items

i'm not able to focus on them all at the same time. Physiological constraint not necessarily psychological

Yes. It's not possible to multi task. You have to decide what each item is individually.

Do you think this...

http://psychology.about.com/od/finde...perception.htm

supports the conclusion that objects are recognised one by one.

I'm a psychologist, and I've got no idea what your OP means.

Also, you are unlikely to gain knowledge about visual recognition by asking people about it explicitly.

One by one, the objects that I am most familiar with drew my attention the fastest so I recognised them first
