Do I need to lose weight?

Im around 5 foot 6, asian, female, and about 64 kg in weight.

I want to lose weight; Im size 12-14 at the moment. Want to be 10.

I want to lose flab from my belly, hips, thighs, upper arms, legs...everywhere really :frown:

Ive been trying to diet but my weight just yoyos up and down day to day depending on how much I eat and what I eat.

Do you think I need to lose weight? Even if you dont think so...is there anything you could suggest that would help me lose weight? :p:

A size 10 would probably be more suited to your height. If you want to lose a bit of weight then exercise more and eat less/more healthily. Try running, swimming or cycling for good cardio workouts and cut out the junk food.

i suggest you only eat when your hungry, and to take your time when you do eat a meal. Take each fork full as it comes. it works lol

Only lose weight if you're uncomfortable with the way you look.

I would like to add walking, that is long walks of one hour or more. Its a very good way to burn fat.

Calorie restriction. Stick to 1200-1500 calories a day, try and get 50% of your calories from protein, and make the rest up from healthy fat and carbohydrate. Eat lots of green veg and drink lots of water.

Exercise with weights and do cardio.

That's the bare bones of it.

I think you sound perfectly fine.
I'm 5ft4/5ft5 and a size 12.
Of course i'd like to look like kate moss but it isn't happening and people seem to think i look nice as i am so i have stopped worrying. I used to occupy loads of my time stressing about being thinner. The really absurd thing is that i was about a size 10 when i did most my worrying!! I think crazy dieting made me gain weight!!
Don't weigh yourself daily for a start, it's pointless because your weight will go up and down during the week, weighing on a fortnight or monthly basis would be good. All body exercise is good for overall weightloss e.g cycling, swimming, running, aerobic routines, anything that gets the body moving, not just one focused area. Personally I don't believe a 12-14 is large, it's perfectly average and respectable, you don't want to get stick thin or anything. If it's you that wants to lose weight and not peer or media pressure, then go for it, but if you want to lose weight because of someone else or because you feel insecure because of something you've seen, then I wouldn't, weight loss has to be because you really want to lose the weight and change who you are because you think it will generally make you and your life happier.
Good luck with everything  xxx

I'd just liket to add that you're by no means overweight, so there is no health issue here, just an image one. I'm 5 4 and I'm a size 14, which is a little larger than optimum for my height, but I have quite wide hips and shoulders.

Just a random factoid that I heard somewhere - it's healther for a woman to be a size 12 than a size 10 as we're meant to have fat as protection, and to prepare our bodies for pregnancy.

As long as you're not obese or having joint problems cause of weight, then there's no health reason why you should lose weight.

Also - if you're healty, your body will find it's own natural weight - I know I'll never be 8 stone because my body doesn't work that way, I'm around about ten usually ( I don't mind, apparently I cuddle well, and I'd prefer to be known for that than just for being slim).

You sound fine to me by your description, but maybe you want to tone up rather than lose weight - join a local gym and they'll give you the information you'll need to start.

With all due respect, you could lose more weight than you think with a strict nutrition and exercise plan.

My body is predisposed to holding high levels of bodyfat, but I find that to be unacceptable, so I make sure I stay in good shape and don't eat what I want.

Some people have faster metabolisms than others, but pretty near everybody (except those with glandular problems) can be exceptionally toned if they're willing to put the hard work in.

You need to be exercising as well as sorting your diet out if you really want to lose weight.
