Liverpool or Leeds?

I'm applying to Birmingham, Sheffield and Newcastle. Just need help with my fourth choice.

Which city do you think is nicer, which do you reckon would be easier to get into? I think Liverpool had less applicants last year but might have more this year since they dont take ukcat (?)
I know liverpool do PBL, this may suit me very well or it may not but i can take my chances.
Oo do leeds accept critical thinking?

Any thoughts on the two places and where would you apply?

Thanks for any help.

i see liverpool as a better university, but maybe the people in leeds are more friendly (stereotypically, yes).
Liverpool's really friendly. The only problem I have with it is that awful accent. I can't see it being less friendly than Leeds = /

LEEDS. It's just....the best. Leeds is a much nicer city than Liverpool, the people are really friendly and the accent is sooooo much nicer than the liverpudlian accent. Also at liverpool med school you have to get A's in bio and chem at a level....boo

but isnt leeds too small, i heard its real friendly and all that, but if you're looking for a large uni and city (so that you dont see the same people you met the night before when you were drunk, naked and running round the town covered in ketchup) then maybe liverpool is better.

I LOVE the Scouse accent. Then again, I've never heard a Leeds accent so I can't compare.:p:

From the Liverpool website:
2003-2004 admissions cycle

Applications: 1904

Interviews: 1143 (60%)

Offers: 815 (71%)

Intake: 283

I couldn't find any similar info about Leeds, but statistically Liverpool is 'easy' to get into compared to other places. Note that a lot of things might have changed since 2003.

Personally I would go for Leeds but I would look into more detail about the course and decide which is better suited for you.

Whilst I admit to HATING the Liverpool accent, the one in Leeds is even worse. When I went there, I swear, they all sounded retarded.

And on the bright side of liverpool, the "scouse" accent appears to have avoided most of the population. It's such a violent sounding accent though : /

Back all those centuries ago when I applied to med school (ok, 2 years) the med school that was statistically easiest to get to was Oxford, followed by cambridge.

Pay little attention to statistics on this matter

I actually think liverpool is easier, because in 2006 they had 1998 applicants and Leeds apparently had 3000ish.

I'm still confused I don't know the Leeds accent.
I liked the fact that leeds uni is in the middle of the city centre.
I think i would prefer the teaching style.
Statistics reckon Liverpool is better uni for medicine.
Liverpool is easier to get into.

this is so difficult im sending my application on MONDAY!
liverpools uni is in the city centre too : /

Maybe not the middle, but it's what... a 10 min walk?

Ok well firstly the leed accent shouldn't even play into it because you will be in the university a lot of the time and this will have loads of people from all over the UK. If you would prefer the teaching style at leeds then I would say go for leeds. Because at the end of the day you should go for the one that you prefer not the one that you think will be easier to get into

Wasn't HYMS quite hard to get into last year?
I didn't apply last year, though there were 13 applicants per place that year. Quite a big change from the 7 per place of the previous year.

that's cause people see how 'easy' it is probably and then apply!

where did you get that information btw?

I'm applying to liverpool.
