Scared of teacher...

I know this may sound really really daft but I'm can't talk to my Biology teacher, he's so grumpy and arrogant to me and others. I enjoy biology as a subject and my biology teacher last year was great but this year for A2, I'm stuck with this evil one... he's the only teacher that is even to teach the plant topic.

He has this horrible method of teaching, firing questions at people really quickly and causes people to go blank... lol then he says the answer like its so obvious and laughs at us...

I do not like him. And today, when he asked questions to the whole class, someone had to shout the answer, I knew the answer but I couldn't bring myself to shout it out, I stuttered when he stared at me mumbling with his evil blue eyes...

WHAT can I do to be more confidence in answering questions and stop being a nervous wreck in class ARGHHHH!! it's so annoying! I'm not like this in the other classes :frown: .

Someone pleaseeee help.

Putting up with knobs like these is, unfotunately, a part of education.

Remember he is a small man who is just a teacher, you will go on to greater things than he is, so next time he tries to phase you, just remember he is notbetter than you he is just a man.

Attitudes like that mean that people like that ^ get into teaching.

Just try to stay as calm as possible in class and maybe try and avoid eye contact with him. You cant be the only one in the class feeling like this so dont worry about feeling humiliated if you get a question wrong.

I had a guy like that!!! It was horrible!

I know that's absolutely no help but it's nice to find out I'm not the only one. Sure felt like it when I was blushing and tongue-tied!

What can i do to be more confident? cos when I go into the class, I turn really nervous...

Yeah, I know my friends feel the same way, I asked them today...

Reply 7

know the stiuff so that when he fires a question ansswer it that way he cant belittle for you

I had a maths teacher like that ( angry little women she was) caused me to drop maths. Worst decision ive taken; just remember that that itll only be for 1 year.

Laugh it off. Or be honest and simply say, "I don't know."

Bet his teaching method keeps you on your toes though, which can't be bad.

Put up with it...unfortunately...let him pick on other people and concentrate on your work. Unfortunately if his methods are causing your work to actually suffer you'll just have to do some out of school studying to make sure you dont fall behind, i do feel sorry for you, i have a really annoying english teacher and like yourself english is my fav. sub. English lit. is all about expressing your own opinion, but if your opinion isn't his you're wrong :p: Idiot  lol, Good luck with everything xxx

My A2 chemistry teacher was just the same. I enjoyed chemistry, but didn't like his style of teaching. Good thing is he didn't laugh at us or act like it was the most obvious thing in the world. There are 2 ways of going about this problem:
1. Cram loads, and do about 1 hour+ subject reading a night, and practise with SAQ's and exam papers, so that you know the answers. Then pay attention in class, so that you know what he's asking you so you can fire back the answer straight away (This is the option you should do)

2. Just put up with it and wait in silence until he moves onto someone else (This is what I did )

Don't worry, you will not be the only one who doesn't like your teacher, I wasn't.

Well I did cram in loads before the biology lesson but even when this evil teacher fires questions at me... I go totally blank again haha... it's pathetic. I just sit there muttering a load of rubbish. And then when he say the answer, I just nod my head and said :

'I knew that, but my brain turned to mush when you questioned me'

He got annoyed and start picking on me for questions....I knew I shouldn't of said it but I was irritated by the fact he kept picking on me before all the time... and now he's doing it even more....

I even tried the sit there and stare at him...method but he was still glaring at me...

Oh yeah the first lesson, he questioned me, I anwsered it and then he fired MORE!? one after another... and I just *shrugged' and said ' I don't know'...he still waited for me to answer... stupid man...

I've tried almost everything lol!!

This teacher sounds almost identical to my biology teacher that I had do you go to a sixth form near "The Chimes"?

Know your stuff. Recalling knowledge under pressure is an invaluable asset in many fields including medicine which you could be aiming for. You have to make sure it encourages you to learn more and do better in exams otherwise you are just rolling over and taking the attacks to heart which is silly really as this guy is obviously quite sad.

Nope, my school has a rather extensive CCTV system.

Pity that.

omg OP you have totally described the biology teacher I had for my A level Bio... word for word. Only difference is that I had him for both AS and A2 !!

I have many times been the target of his constant questions. I used to just sit there and smile if I didn't know the answer (he hated that). He also hated it if u say ''I don't know'' to any questions.

I know this wont help much with your situation but... is this teacher Mr. E.......?

Good Luck x
