Collegiate uni or not?

How much difference does being at a collegiate uni realistically make? Atm I'm trying really hard to choose between applying to Durham or Bristol- as they're both quite competitive and as I'm probably going to apply to Cambridge too I want some lower ones to fall back on. I absolutely loved both of them, but they were so different. I think I prefer Bristol as a bigger city- but only just- and the Bristol course was slightly better. But I loved the Durham collegiate system and as in terms of place/course/ranking/feel they are basically the same, do you think I should go to Durham for the colleges? I want to study general engineering at Durham btw and Engineering Design at Bristol.
I'm at Durham and I absolutely love the collegiate system  There is always a ton of support from the college president, the college principal which I think is quite unique. I've felt so at ease throughout my time there. The collegiate system made Durham stand out to me, I would recommend it to anybody!
