Really REALLY difficult situation

I don't really know where to start with this, I'm about to start uni, and am pregnant.. I've told my boyfriend and he agrees that we can't deal with a baby right now, (he's in the forces and away more than he's home).
If we want an abortion do we have to pay for it privately? It's not an option I am planning but just another consideration as we try and work out the best way to deal with the pregnancy..
Before I get loads of horrible posts we were careful, I'm on the pill but have been ill and we did use condoms.. so I'm not a stupid slag or anything like that, it's just an accident.
Help and advice would be appreciated rather than horrible comments
Please... x

if you go to the docs u shud be able to get it done on NHS!

depends how pregnant u are though... the more pregnant the more likely you'll have to get it privately coz i think nhs only offers up to a certain amount of weeks

Ask your parents to help. You'd be much better off facing the music now.

From what i've seen on eastenders and emmerdale (not actually sure how acurate they are) you can them on the NHS but you will probably have to wait a while, whereas if you go private it will cost something like £500 (emmerdale). Sorry i'm no expert maybe you should go to the family planning clinic they will probably be very helpful.

I don't think dropping the bombshell the day before I move out will help the tension at home!
I'm going to change doctors as soon as I get up to uni so I'll go and ask, im jst a bit embarrassed about it all and want it all sorted asap, it's already really affecting me and i don't want to bring a child into the world I cant give the best to

A month, i've done 3 tests that have all come back positive

Wouldnt it be better to see your doctor before you leave? Who knows how long it would take to get another doctor sorted, that lost time could make all the difference. Your current doctor can always transfer you when you have the new one sorted. And theres no need to be embarassed, im sure the doctor has dealt with this hundreds of times before in their career.

Tried to get an appointment before I move and I couldnt, I will have to sort it out when I get to uni, my bf is also on leave so hopefully he will come with me too...
I've given up smoking and drinking even though i'm not likely to keep this baby.. how strange am I!?

Really feel you should start to get things moving asap. Def make enquiries while you are still at home.Do you have any friends going to same uni? You could do with some support.
Go before you leave.

Your fetus is currently only 4mm long. It's not a baby.

The sooner you get it done, the better you'll feel about it.

You usually get details of doctors before you go to uni so you can register in advance. Have you got this?

A lot of doctors either have an open surgery (where you can just turn up, wait a while and see the doctor - without an appointment) or they have a limited number of appointments reserved for emergencies. I think this probably counts as an emergency, phone your doctors again and see if can offer either of these to you.
^ and if not, definitly try and sort out pre-registering with a surgery your uni recommends, or the uni surgery (if there is one)
It's still an awful feelings even when the fetus is small, you might want to see a consellor first before you go ahead.

if ur only a month gone u dont need an op they give u a pill or 2 which gets rid of it...

if you hurry up and get an emergancy appointment you can have it all sorted before they start digging out their surgical implements!
You can get an abortion on the NHS if 2 doctors agree that you couldn't cope with a baby, the sooner you go the better because you don't have to have an operation at this stage. I think you could see your doctor at home and ask for a referal to a clinic near to your uni. Good luck:smile:
you can get it for free on the nhs, i went to a family planning clinic (but you can also go to your gp!) and i had the abortion about a week later (at a hospital) so it doesn't take very long.
Although you shouldn't rush your decision, you shouldn't wait a long time either as it won't get any easier if you do decide to have an abortion.
good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Yes, the NHS will do it for you. Especially as you're not far in. Id you're ABSOLUTELY sure, then get it done now, but if you have any doubts, see someone about it. wish u the best x
