I recently overheard the exams officer in my school talking to my Latin teacher about the fact that there is like a photo frame type thing where they scan in your paper as well as a "don't write". I think that I went over this frame and that might have had an effect on my mark in gcse latin, where i am waiting for a remark of 3 out of the 4 papers. Could my assertion be true?

If you wrote outside the "safe area" then it may well be that a word or 2 got cut off. Exams do make it clear where to write though and that you shouldn't write outside it.

It is very clear that you should not write outside the box and if you do then you can't blame the exam board for missing it. However, they do normally notice if you do and then make sure it gets marked
