    Generally, the greater the overall darkness of the suit, the more 'professional' the situation. Wearing a maroon suit, with brown shoes may be good for the Pub, but not for a City Lawyer, for example. I'd say avoid brown shoes, as much as possible. Black shoes go with pretty much everything smart (grey/charcoal/black/navy).
    Brown shoes would go with a navy suit, in a relaxed scenario. But even that is negligible.

    Just remember to have the same coloured shoes as your belt - a must.
