We're using the official AQA textbooks (by Cathy Lee) in class but I really don't like them. The way they're written is so dull and sometimes confusing and I feel they don't give enough information about what we're learning, it feels more like story-telling. Anyway I know I have to do extra reading but I haven't found any books which are specific to this...

So if you've studied this unit for AS, which textbooks did you use and what other books would you recommend which maybe helped you?

    Thanks in advance

I didn't study it for AS but I have a general understanding of the era.

I'd recommend this and this for textbooks (worth buying them used to save money)

In terms of other books, you might like to read this (good for historiography), this (just the last chapter though) and this on Henry VII.

For Henry VIII, you might like to read this or this.

If you want more than this , the AQA teacher resource bank is available for every unit and is very useful, see here.
