ok, so the thing is..I made a deposit payment and signed a contract with a student accommodation last year. However, I can not afford to live there this year so I emailed the accommodation and told them that I want to cancel my booking and they told me that I am responsible to the flat and therefore if I do not made the rental payment to them(which is 6000 pounds)they will take legal actions against me. Can they really do that??I am a poor international student, I really dont have that much money to pay them off, how can I avoid legal action being taken???

    thanks

Did you not even read the contract before signing it? It would have explained everything in it.

You could just stay abroad and not pay anything back, that's what all the other international students seem to do.

Well ring citizens advice they helped I had a similar thing. Tell the accommodation to put your room for cancellation so it's in a waiting list.
