ALOT of people stare at my gym too, they stare at everyone because theres nothing else to do. I glance around too looking at what people are doing. Its normal

Honey I'm a 5"5 92lb female with a BMI of 15.4, anorexia and a serious thing for exercise - you think I get good looks in the gym? And to be honest - am I bothered? I happen to LIKE pounding away with weights/cardio, and if I feel like working out hard, that's my perogative. I get funny looks from the big beefcakes I'm pumping iron next to, but it's my choice to exercise and I deserve to be there as much as the next person, coz I enjoy it and am paying, dammit! So bugger everyone else mate, and just enjoy yourself too

damn straight celena lol, nd if you are nervous about it, well then an MP3 player is definatly your friend. Just take a minute to think about all the people in that gym - when are you ever going to see them again, let alone speak to them? dont give a damn about what anyone else thinks about you being in there or how you look, chances are they arent even noticing you anyway.

EDIT: Like anony2 said, when ur pulling pounds theres not much else to do, youve got to look somewhere

waste of money mate, get some balls or go home

Lol well said Stud, I salute you

Don't understand why you went anon anyway. Just work to gain some muscle if you have a problem with your weight

It might also be considering doing a home workout. Admittedly the equipment would set you back a fair bit if you bought enough to get a decent workout, but then it doesn't sound like you'd need THAT much weight at first, anyway. Plus you can keep on adding to it as you get stronger until you've got a decent home gym.

Of course, this relies on you having a little space to put it in.

Look dude, atleast your thin, Im obese and go the gym, Im 16 and look 12. Hell I cant even buy a lottery ticket! Do simple weights, or even try doing treadmill at an incline. Stick to cardio for a bit then do weights. Well thats my opiniion anyway.

Poor idea. Doing weights will help you reduce bodyfat at a faster rate (for a TON of reasons) and it will also mean you have a more muscular base by the time you lose the fat than you would have done by sticking to cardio.

Anyway, why would he want to do only cardio if his goal is to build muscle? Cardio for fitness and for fat loss, yes, but if he wants to bulk up then obviously he needs to hit the weights.

You really have to get over it boss, people always look at people... especially someone new if it's a cliquey gym which some can be. They will instantly respect the fact you are trying to change yourself... and you just have to role with it, get involved, if someone is staring to long, go and ask them for some advice on what kind of exercises ect.. everyone loves dishing things out in the gym. People are just people bro... worrying is a waste of time

This is very true. Even though I mostly work out at home, I sometimes go to my local gym with my mates who are members, and all the bouncers from this local club we go to work out there, and we're all quite good friends, which is pretty awesome when we're on a night out, because it means if someone is stupid enough to start trouble with us in that club that we're more or less invincible, because we won't get chucked out, and even if it's someone we can't handle by ourselves, we have about 6 250lbs guys backing us up!

ehh don't worry. i'm a member of a gold's gym, just imagine how it was for ME when i first started out. gold's gym ffs.

i was just like you - really paranoid. i'd pray that the hidden machines would be free so that i could go hide and exercise in my little corner.

it's almost two months now and after my first two weeks of regular attending, i felt right at home.

i stare too. it's normal. everyone stares, nothing better to do.

just go there and do your thing, seriously. you've got nothing to worry about.

the more scared/conscious you look, the more looks you'll get.
