Can I afford Uni?! Is it too far?

I'm currently living in a flat with a rent of £480. Adding bills, it rounds up to just under £700 a month. I've been offered a place at uni but looking at the maximum grant allowance, I've worked out that I'd be under by about 2k each year.
Add to this the fact that the uni is a 1.5 hour trek, five days a week, as all lectures start at 9am, I'm seriously wondering if I should take the place or just find a job.
I'm a mature student, without savings though. Sounds like if I take up the place, I will be seriously broke...

It occurs to me that the uni's do not care about students being broke so long as they get their tuition fees btw

Universities are not responsible for student loans.

How are you affording your rent currently? Would it not be an option to move closer to uni to eliminate commuting costs and inconvenience? Can you get a part-time job there?

If you really want to do this particular course, you'll find a way. But if your heart's not in it, you may well struggle.
