please someone help?

in Boyle's law, when graph is plotted between pressure and volume, the curve is hyperbolic. but why? as the volume and pressure are inversely proportional so, shouldn't there be a straight upside down line?if say, as PV remains constant, though the value of p and v is changing, then why the volume decrease is slow in the start with greater p and increase with low p? please someone explain.

P=constVP=\frac{const}{V}

Basic algebra :smile:

Find dPdV.
Then you get
dPdV=dPdt.dtdV
or dVdt=dPdt.dVdP

PV=C
Differentiate it with respect to t, you get dPdt.V+dVdt.P=0

You don't need differentiation to explain/understand what is going on, your post is only confusing.
