Work experience for year 10 for science or medicine ?

Hi there,
i'm struggling to find any work experience for medicine and science that allows year 10 (14-15 year olds) to get work experience in that area. How ever i'm struggling to find places or ideas i wanna do, any suggestions please ?

Tbh, seeing anything clinical is going to be very difficult to arrange for someone at your stage - do you know anyone who works in a hospital or GP surgery who could maybe give you a helpful nudge in the right direction? Doesn't have to be a doctor, just someone on the inside who could sort it out for you.

Don't worry about it if you can't sort anything out, you've still got years to go and plenty more chances to get work experience in a hospital. Until then, if you still want to see something kind of similar and still related to patient care and science, perhaps try a dental surgery or a pharmacy?

As said above it is really difficult to find science based placements in year 10. I was in year 10 last year applying for science placements and it's so frustrating because you either don't get a reply or have to be 16.

You could try dental practices/gps/care homes/clinics/local labs/local engineering/science companies. Or you could just choose something completely different if you have no luck. I know it's nice to find somewhere you enjoy or is useful for what you want to do but I found year 10 work experience was just about experiencing the world of work in general, working as a team, getting on with/meeting new people/work routine/hours e.t.c so don't worry too much. I ended up doing my placement in a library! :smile:

Hi, I am in year 10 as well. I am looking for work experience too in Medicine. There are suggestions on the web to do volunteering with care homes and charities. Also with St.John's Ambulance. I put my name down on the waiting list for this but a year long course in term time. I am trying different hospitals in my area or even out of London.
