Same here haven't seen it with my eyes yet.

It's not that it's that ugly, it looks like most other diplomas, I'd expect. The thing is, after all that work, you expect something very glamorous and exciting and it's just a regular A4 paper which makes it a bit disappointing.

never seen one so cant talk. but is it actually thick paper and not some flimpsy piece that rips the moment you tug too hard? I mean, does it have a seal or logo or something on it?

Reply 4

Unless they changed it, it is a relatively thin piece of A4 paper; it has a security thread (some metal coming out of and going into the paper) and a watermark.
Also, because everything is given in three languages, it is extremely crowded text-wise.
It's not a very well-designed diploma, I don't think.

oh bother. why dont just issue it in one language, the one the candidate took the exams in???

The key to answering that question lies in the name

International
Baccalaureate

Although I do agree that it seems quite pointless to have it in all those languages, I suppose if its an international exam, you might as well give the diploma an international feel.

Reply 7

i don't really mind the languages that much. i think the point is that a person who did it in spanish can still go to british uni without having to translate everything. international, as someone said already. but yeah... it's a regular a4 and it's thin. but when you look at it closely it looks like money (when you look at both, with some bright light behind): these metal strips, watermarks... what is really annoying me though is that it can be folded and ripped really easily! why can't the do a hardcover for it? or at least laminate it for us? because it's so "tender" i'm afraid to breath on that thing :p:

I've heard that most other exam certificates are not that great either (GCSE, AS, and AP) as well. I guess it's understandable that they have to mass-produce them and are fairly limited in what they do.

I'm curious, does anyone have an image of the IB Diploma itself. I did a quick search on google and didn't really find anything. Apparently, the IBO sells sample diplomas

GCSEs are so dam hot, i make sure i spend a few hours each day wtih my certificates for that...warming myself up :p:

Reply 10

actually IGCSE certificates looked good. Dont know if thats different from how the GCSE certs look. but anyway, the IGCSE cert actually was thick paper, almost cardboard. It was still only an A4 with the metal thingy, but at least it doesn't feel like it's going to rip right off.

anyway, they sell sample diplomas? wouldnt people fake one then? (I suppose it's hard to fake but it's kind of is possible isnt it?)

Sample IBO

Doesn't look too bad from here but can't really see a clear picture of it. Colours don't look bad though

Reply 12

wow this scares me!! now i wonder ..did i tke up IB just to get a thin sheet of paper that rips off easily??

Reply 13

it does tell u subjects at HL and SL doesn't it? my friend thinks its just a list...yeah sure :p: but thought id check lol

Reply 14

there are two columns... one for hl and another one for sl... then a little note staying what you got for ee and tok, and that you have completed your cas requirements.

May 2006 people, have any of you actually received your diploma yet? Or is it just my school being notoriously slow. According to my IBC...they are not *Sure* when the diplomas are actually getting to the school (so they can send them out to us)

Reply 16

Our arrived mid-August.

Reply 17

yep... ours arrived sometime in august too. i picked it up from school (looking at all those suckers studying....hehehehe....i feel so evil) in september coz they wouldn't send it home. but don't worry. many people from my grade didn't pick it up yet

Reply 18

Aluakz, how come you didnt have a graduation ceremony or something like that?

I thought all IB schools had to arrange one ^o)

Reply 19

i did have graduation ceremony, in the middle of june, right after our senior trip. but ib results are released on july 6th. so there was no way to get the diploma before then. and in our school, after graduation we are totally free... so that's why we have to come and pick up the diploma sometime

and... we didn't have any special IB ceremony. i didn't know you were supposed to have one:smile:
