Is it true that LSE rejects all Oxbridge applicants straight away?

That's what one of my friends told me and she heard it from her guardian who works in LSE.

if it is true i might not just well try applying oxford...:frown:

Also can Unis see which unis i'm applying for in my application?

Speaking from experience, no.

And no, they can't see what other unis you're applying for from your application...

Nope, but as a general guideline, students who apply before the Oct 15 deadline, applied to Oxbridge. That's how they tell, I think.

They didnt reject me. Nor several people I know including people who got offers for both. In fact im sure half the domestic students going to LSE are probably oxbridge rejects.
I know lots of people at LSE who chose it over oxbridge.
They didn't reject me either. In fact I heard some rumors before saying that LSE likes giving offers to those rejected by Oxbridge. Well, it may not be true but I don't think applying to Oxbridge will affect your application to LSE.

First of all, it's up to you to tell them what other schools you have applied to. Second, if you are applying to Oxbridge you are likely a high -quality candidate. Why would they automatically reject such a candidate? Third, I think that by chance the ymight end up accepting Oxbridge rejects only because they are good applicants, but how would they know who was rejected and who wasn't? I doubt the universities share that kind of information.

no, my mate got offers for cambridge and lse economics(a really competitive course). and apparently now when you make other choices, unis cant find out where u applied.
Actually you're correct. And also, LSE rejects people who also apply to any other London college as well (not mentioning those who also apply to manchester, nottingham and durham..). So i think you should JUST apply to LSE for 6 different courses; that way you know you're definately in!

From experience, yes.

However, if you really want to go to Oxford/Cambridge, then go for it. If, like me, you prefer London, go for LSE. Its mainly because LSE have this complex of being on par with Oxbridge so they don't like you applying there. As to how they know; well your application gets the before the Oxbridge deadline.
