To what extent were economic benefits the reason for the French struggle to hold Indochina up to 1954?

I need 3 points and a conclusion. Can anybody help me out with 3 points? I have been away all week so I have no idea what it could be! I cant find anything online so I thought I would try this, can anyone help?

It's basically asking "To what extent were the French motivated by economic benefits to hold Indochina up to 1954?"

A poorly worded question.

I'd take the stance that they were primarily motivated by economic benefits, given that Indochina was a designated colony of economic interest, and that the French reaped the rewards of lucrative resources such as opium.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable on the time and place, but perhaps other motives you could consider would be anti-communist sentiment and international prestige.

I assume you have a textbook to work from?
