We've only ever done the 20th century at secondary school (from what I can remember) :hmmm:

I quite like the medieval period but I don't know much else about other time periods. :s-smilie:

From years 7-9 you should be going through from early medieval history up until modern in a fairly chronological order. For GCSE it seems that a lot of it is modern, which I personally find really dull and boring (Except the Nazis. Every loves the Nazis).

Which crusade? Or just in general? I like the military side of it, mainly the castles which the crusaders built to protect themselves.

Yeah, nice period of time in Germany's view. From foundation of the German Reich in 1871 to the end of German dictatorship and world war II in 1945 and the beginning of the occupation of the allies as well. Could it be that you are interest in German history?

Yes 😃.I would love to meet the Kaiser, Bismarck and many military generals.
I love reading about the industrial revolution period in Britain, from the mid to late 1700s onwards to the mid 1800s. That's got to be my favourite. And I also love the Victorian period!
The Tudor period will always be fascinating to me too

Really? so the feeling is not mutual.

Of course Bismarck enabled the foundation of German Reich by leading wars against Denmark, Austria and French sucessfully. This laid the foundation for flourishing industry in the following time, the German Reich became a big power in economy and it was a national state with an own government, ruled by Prussia, not by Austria at the time of the German Confederation. And Bismarck has also made a great contribution that it came not to a potential war with Austria and Russia (key word League of three emperors).

But he has also fought against democratic processes in German Reich. The workers and labourers, leading by SPD and with an enormous self-confidence, were placed to arrest by Anti-Socialist laws, just to prevent a participation of workers and labourers in government by SPD.

Yeah, he has established fall-safe-systems like the unemployment, health and old-age insurance, that was very important without a doubt at that time. But he did it in the hope of segregate the SPD and the workers and labourers from each other. This shows that Bismarck was a power seeker and a loyal member of monarchy. These aspects are the reasons why I don't like Bismarck so much.

The same applies to Wilhelm II. His aggressive imperialism at a time (ca. 1890) where a great part of colonies in Africa were conquered by Great Britain and France, led to entente cordiale and triple entente later on (after spread in Asia). So he has had Britain, France and Russia as an alliance against him, the age of imperialism has achieved the hey day in terms of the struggles. So Wilhelm's megalomenia and awkward foreign policy were one of the reasons for World War I. He has quasi broken what Bismarck achieved decades before

What do you mean by the feeling is not mutual. I know what these men dis good and bad, I just wanted to meet them since they had a huge influence, be it good or bad, in shaping Germany and Europe.

I meant that I disagree with you. I would not meet these personalities, if I were you. By the way do you believe that they will talk with you? do you really believe that these people, members of the nobility, would have begun a conversation with you at that time? you, as a member of simple population? I don't think so.

Bro, you are harsh. Me meeting them was simply hypothetical.

Harsh? rather realistically. But if its your wish, I would recommend you the following, if time travel is possible one day: masquerade yourself as a member of nobility and think out a good noble sounding name! if you want to impress the German nobility at that time, here are another recommendations: be a disciplined person with a serious passion for military and duty. The Germans liked this, a handlebar moustache as well. If you embody German virtues, you will be very popular for sure in the circles of the nobility.
