Does anyone else hate England?

I live in a place that's almost constantly sunny and I can hardly describe how much I yearn for a place like England where the weather is cold and grey. Whether you prefer sunny or rainy weather depends on what you're used to I guess. The grass always looks greener on the other side.

Omg take me there!!!!! It's just bad weather and some government policies are ridiculous like tuition fees for instance

I love cold and wet winter weather.

I would actually love to live near Scandinavian snowey mountains or something.

I can't function or be that happy during daylight suntime.

Lol some of the policies here are ridiculous as well. I live in an arab country and it's sometimes hard to enjoy a movie at the cinema due to the amount of censorship that takes place; they probably cut out at least a fifth of the scenes from The Wolf of Wall Street.

England really isn't a bad place compared to most of the world. Although tbh if it ever becomes feasible for someone living in the UK to move to Canada, they should seriously consider doing so.
Canada seems really dull though

Do you ever get the sense that you are part of the problem, OP?

The opposite? Yep, plenty.

England isn't great, but in no way is it at all bad. In fact, its pretty god damn amazing compared to most countries in the world.

England isn't great??? What kind of benchmark are you looking for?

I used to think like this but on studying English geography a little more and expanding my horizons, it's just my town I so vehemently dislike, and major cities in general.

The UK is a pretty good place to live compared to about 99% of the planet to be honest. We're damn lucky.

Rather have grown up here with the NHS, decent education, English as a first language, London as a capital (one of the best, vibrant and most exciting cities in the world), a generally tolerant multicultural society.. the list goes on.

You won't find all this anywhere else in the world.

I don't like London. I prefer Paris, Barcelona. I imagine that NYC and San Francisco and LA are great too. And we have huge social divisions, multiculturalism doesn't work very well. Education actually isn't all that great. And we are now the biggest surveillance state in the world behind Russia China and Singapore, plus crime and overcrowding is terrible, as is economic divide. We have no manafacturing industry, London is run like a casino and all the wealth drains not only to that region, but to a very small percentage of people. Britain is a decaying and the referendum showed it.

Exactly.

This person would probably be depressed in any country he is in.

Probably.

No, I disagree totally. I'm not expecting Utopia, but cultures and countries can sit with your mindset and temperament better. I see my ancestors who had prosperous lives and were major success in California, for example, and I admire it, I would love to see what the US is like. But I am pro Europe too, I love France and Spain, and would like to see Germany. I just don't like many specifics of England, and the general conservatism and smugness, that belies all it's apparent evolution and progressiveness. I think there is a politically ignorant, sedated quality to it's people and an inability to get out of a post-imperial rut, not to mention many other ills.

I've definitely got a much better shot at it. I'm not moaning, just have experienced things that are terrible. I think the place is being ruined. I will get out.

Just ****in leave then stop moaning

You're welcome to go and live in Ghana or Niger you ungrateful person.

Accra is actually a very nice place if you have money!

I expect you would say all the same things wherever you lived.

That's cliched. I'd rather look at my country objectively rather than be inculcated into patriotism. It can be better elsewhere. And how can people know it can't if they haven't been elsewhere?

I can go and live anywhere, i will still dominate.

Not like the British who take roman ideas and ways of life and try to transform it into their own and still fail. HAHA.
I wouldn't say I hate England, but I certainly hate a lot of this country's politics. I'd love to emigrate to Sweden but I'm not sure how realistic that is!

so many nationalists here lol. Imo, England is alright, the world (socially, politically) is generally a ****-hole still, at least we have some modicum of stability
I hate the UK. I was wanting the referendum to pass in order to start something new.

England is a decaying post imperial power with massive social problems. So happy to be festooned to it.

It's not a safe place to raise children either, Rotherham and the establishment abuse proves that.
