Yup - I'm in Ransom Pickard as well, although I've got a single room!

Reply 2

im sharing in ransom pickard too :frown: really really really dont want to share!

Reply 3

You might be sharing with each other!

Seriously, though, I know a couple of people who shared rooms and both hated the idea, but in the end it was fine.

Hey, yea me too...ive jus received a shared room at ransom pickard and am kinda annoyed. What happens if you reject the offer? Another problem arises if you want ppl to come stay like gf/bf which would b rather annoyin on both sides when havin a shared room. although if u get along im sure it would b fun!

Don't be annoyed - they've just fixed it up and every time I've walked past it, it always seems like a real party, fun place.
Can't comment on the shared room thing though, I've never done it.

Arrange a code with your room mate (as in coat hanger on the door mean don't come in or whatever =P)

I was up there last week and by the looks of things they're tearing chunks out of the place. Always a good thing, newer = better and such. Got Pennsylvania Road closed from the crossroads for the contractors, so must be some big work going on.

I'm in Ransom Pickard - a single though  A uni document says that they planned to spend something like £1.7m on doing up RP over the summer :yep:

Mind you, I hope the work is finished in time....

Where are you going to live if you reject it?

Hi I'm going to be studying Geography. Were you offered an alternative? If not it might be quite lonely living in private rented accommodation in the first year.... Good luck though, hope it works out

Reply 13

do you think if i rang up and made a fuss they would offer me a non shared room in the same place or area?

Reply 14

Not if there's nothing available, no...as I said earlier, accommodation decisions are basically like a big game of Tetris, making sure that everyone fits in somewhere.

Reply 15

It wouldn't do any harm to ring up though; they were really friendly and helpful when I gave them a call

Reply 16

i just sent of an email, and they emailed back pretty quickly, saying there are no available single rooms in either hope or lopez, but they have matched me according to what i said on that form.

they also said i could be put on a waiting list to be moved but a move is not guaranteed. they also said me and my room mate could change email addresses.

i really wouldn't worry about being in a shared room in randy p, its one of the most sociable annexes of halls i've known and everyone in my year seemed to get on really well. plus its part of lopes and slap bang in between penny c and lopes main so its not as if you're out in the middle of no where..

if you really are against it though, i'd ring up and make a fuss. one of my friends got put in the lopes nunnery and really didn't want to share so her mum rang up and kicked up a fuss and she ended up in penny c... so if you're persistant and put across a good argument they will listen eventually...

Don't know much about Randy P, as I was in Penny C - however it is in a great location and being next to several other residences is fab. As for shared rooms, most of the people i know who have shared a room got on well with their sharer.

Ah...cult and crit English module...*shivers* - on a plus side English has the fewest hours out of any subject (I think) - so you have more time outside of lessons :woo:
