Have you considered joining one of the student groups or societies run by the Students' Union? There's a full list of what's currently on offer on the SU website, here http://www.salfordstudents.com/groups#club-society#all

And if there isn't a group that exists already offering what you want, you can always set one up? http://www.salfordstudents.com/student-activities/start-a-new-group
