I always found resits easier

Resits of AS are meant to be easier as some of the people taking those exams are people whose colleges encourage them to take one module in january(so theyve only been studying AS for 5 months or so). Therefore your writing style and knowledge should be better.

This is what one of my teachers said, not sure if its actually true
Some of them seem harder and some seem easier. If you know you're stuff the level is all the same but some questions can be made trickier and more misleading in some papers.
Thats not just for resits ^ thats for tests in general. Thats all a resit is, just another test.

More harder? Perhaps exams in general are out of some people's grammatical scope. . .
I've never done a resit, but i hope it's not any harder! I expect it to be of a similar difficulty, but our knowledge would probably have generally increased, though i expect a similar level of revision is necessary.

That said, I guess re-sitters can relax a little bit more because we've already got some marks in the bag.

Are resit exams more harder or are they just pretty random?

I hope, for your sake, its not an english exam resit, or you may as well not bother.

Anyway, "resit" means taking the next available test for whatever subject you require.
So for example, if you resit something, you may well be taking a resit with people in the year behind you, for them it is the first test, for you it is not.
So the test could be harder, could be easier, they dont make "resit papers" you just take the test again the next time one is published. You have clearly misunderstood the concept of a "resit".
It's no different to the first time you sat the exam, but it will seem easier to you because you'll be at A2 standard by then, so your knowledge and skills will have developed.

As others have said, a resit is just taking the same exam again the next time a paper is published. Each exam paper has to meet strict standards, so although there might be slight variation year on year depending on whether you sit a relatively more or less demanding paper than in a previous year, this does not matter. In an easier paper, the pass mark will be higher and visa-versa to ensure standards are maintained. Therefore, thoretically, each paper should be of the same difficulty, but the other factor to consider is the candidate's perception to the exam - hopefully knowledge and understanding will have improved before the resit, so you'll probably score a higher mark.

For the thread title, the phrase 'more difficult' or 'are resits harder' would work.

Should be easier because you're doing it for the second time , i.e. you're more familiar with the style of questions and structure, assuming you haven't practise enough past papers...

Resits do tend to get easier, your brain kinda "adapts" to the paper after a while. I think A2 really boosts your intellect to its limit. I'm resitting some papers too for the sake of getting 4A's.
resits feel easier when you do them, grades can differ though. sometimes i felt examiners were harsher when marking resits. but i don't know i went up at least one grade in all my resits.

arent grade boundaries usually lower in jan?

Forgive one's possible ignorance, but how on earth does the marker know that it's a resit or not?

If an exam is hard, grade boundaries will be low. If an exam is easy, grade boundaries will be high.

Edit: also it depends on the subject, maths usually has really high grade boundaries, i.e.for A you need ~80% raw marks = 80& UMS. Something like economics and business an A is ~68% raws = 80% UMS. In most subjects the raw marks are scaled up when converted to UMS.
