How Much Fun is LSE??

All the LSE students I've met (which, to be fair, is only 2) have felt they missed out on some parts of student life by going to LSE. They said they found it full of 'nerdy' types, there wasn't much union life, and they were generally too skint to go out in London.

What do other people think of student life at LSE? Is there a lot going o? Do you enjoy it? Is going out an affordable luxury?

I need to make my uni choices soon so any advice from ppl on here would be fabbo,

Cheers, franxxx

people I know who go there (which is quite a few) really enjoy the place. of course there will be nerds- there is in every university but the majority of the people are fun and do go out a lot. stop spreading rumours, sorry if you arn't doing it intentionally but it really gets annoying after a while.
yeh pingu! rock on lse! the place 2 be! afterall u dont have 2 make friends in the uni, its london for heavensake, coolness is everywhere!

that didnt sound too chessy

In my case, it really doesn't matter where LSE has a great social life because I will be absolutely broke for most of the year while studying at LSE.
Anyone who comes here feeling insecure about the kind of fun they'll have at uni, should be assigned ''nerdy''.

Um- why??

Wether it's true or complete *******s LSE has a rep. of a kinda 'unfun' uni, where the students don't have a good social life. I want somewhere with the academic rigour of LSE, but in a way perhaps I'm more suited to the nightlife of a '****hole'. I just want to be able to make a balanced decision about what unis I put on my UCAS form.

So does anyone have any objective answers?? Are you enjoying LSE? How often do you go out? WHat kinda stuff so you do?/ Is there a decent union that arranges good stuff? How much do you socialise with other UofLondon students?

thanks ppl xx

Well Im going to LSE to study law and I indeed hope there is a very zealous social life there!!! I am no means a party animal but I love to go out at weekends clubbing or what not.

I wonder if there is mixing with other UoL students, but if there is then great if not, not such a major loss. The LSE, small maybe, but remember they don't do as many degrees as other unis and also how can you possibly socialise with 10k + people!!

On the law course at LSE there is something like 160 students (roughly) and I think that is a very healthy number?
Also looking at your uni choices, Oxford (surely can't have a booming social life). ALSO DURHAM AND WARWICK  .....
Warwick is like in the middle of no where you do realise this, so I wouldn't expect a huge social life? Saying that I have never been, so I shouldn't comment I guess....

 12th actually. That is besides the point too, I am not talking about Coventry.
Also if you go by largest cities correlating to a good social life, the OP should have NO worries about social life going to a uni in London as it is the largest city.

Exactly! Hmmm I wonder this too but in all honesty you are probably not going to find the answers on an internet forum (unhelpful i know).
As others have said there will surely be people who want to do the same as you and socialising is what you make of it?

12th in the UK, 8th in England. Whatever.

And I am talking about Coventry because Warwick University is in Coventry, and not Warwick.

I did not say anything about the social life. I was picking up on the fact that you said "Warwick is like in the middle of no where you do realise this".

But.... Warwick is almost 11 miles from the city of Coventry. Anyway I am not going to go into a debate. Basically, the point was the OP obviously wants somewhere social and I don't believe Warwick is renound for being a 'social uni'? Some people comment on the hospital type feel of the uni (feel free to correct me via PM as I am interested  ).

Warwick (the town) is 11 miles. Warwick University is 3 miles from the centre of Coventry.

LSE is neither renowned for being a "social uni".

I do think the argument of "...but it's in London!" fails. Although there'll be loads going on at all times, it can also be the most isolating place to live. That said, uni is what you make it. I'm sure the OP would have a good time wherever she goes.
