Just thought I'd help out a little with pronunciations for the non welsh speakers around who are probably wondering how to pronounce the names of their halls and so forth! So here goes...
Bangor: Bang-ore (as in metal)
NOT Banger (as in mash)
Neuadd (meaning hall): Nay-ardd (dd as TH in THis, THat, The OTHer)
NOT Ny-ad
Y Borth: Eugh (as in, expression of disgust) Borrth
Bryn Dinas: Brin Dee-nass
Cefn y Coed: Kev-un eugh koid
Elidir: El-ee-deer
Emrys Evans: Em-riss Evans
Y Glyder: Eugh Gluh-der
NOT Glider (as in, flying thing)
Llys Tryfan: (forget the LL. You won't be able to pronounce it, and I can't adequately describe it here
- just use L or CH as in German): Llees Truh-van (as in transit van)
Reichel: Ray-chelle (ch as in German "Bach", "Ich" etc)
Tegfan: Teg-van
Seiriol: Say-ree-ol
Arfon: Ar-von (von as in German names)
Rathbone, John Morris Jones, St. Mary's: If you need help pronouncing these, you should learn English again
Bryn Eithin: Brin Ay-thin (as in, not fat)
Pencastell: Pen-cas-tell (again with the LL)
Hope this is useful to some people! If you want to know how to pronounce anything else, just ask and I'll be happy to oblige!

Friddoedd: As stated previously, DD is pronounced like the english TH in THis, THat and THe oTHer (so NOT like thistle, thorn, throughfare etc.). So, bearing that in mind, Friddoedd would be pronounced Fridd-oidd, more or less.
I don't think you need to be too worried - pretty much anyone who doesn't actually have some knowledge of the language is going to be mis-pronunciating, so you needn't worry about making a fool of yourself!
Welsh is pretty phoenetic (i.e. consistent, as in you speak what you see - no silent letters or any nonsense like that), as a language, so if you are familiar with the basics things ought to be pretty easy - unlike with English where for example there are a HUGE number of ways for pronouncing what is written as "ough" (just think: Bough, borough, through, tough...). So now you know that "Bryn" (meaning "hill") is pronounced Brin and not Brine (as in Pilchards or Tuna!), you'll never get it wrong again!

Hmm, I was pronouncing my halls incorrectly all year then... oh well, Welsh isn't really worth it... if you learn it, you'll probably get abuse from the Welsh nationalists and if you don't, you'll probably get abuse from the Welsh nationalists
I don't think you'd find anyone in Wales, "nationalists" (whatever exactly you mean by that) or not, who disapproved of anyone learning Welsh.

I know of people who've been told they shouldn't be learning Welsh because they aren't Welsh.
There's enough pressure from outside, without needing this kind of attitude that is damaging the language from within... I truly apologise on behalf of whomever these a***holes were - anyone who claims you have to be Welsh to learn Welsh is clearly stupid.
I'd like to point out though that the vast majority of Welsh speakers aren't like that - most of us admire and encourage anyone who makes the effort to learn the language. Everyone I've ever met who is a member of the Welsh nationalist party (about 50% of Plaid Cymru members I know don't actually speak Welsh, by the way) is highly encouraging of learners. I think if you'd ask the vast majority of Welsh speakers and/or nationalists they'd actually say the same - just as, if you asked the majority of English people, they would say how they have no problem with foreigners, even though there's a very vocal minority who say otherwise.

i've been pronouncing my wrong...and just looked really stupid talking at a computer trying to learn them off of this,and failing...i'll just hope i pick up on it all

Thank you so much! i was so worried about pronoucing words and stuff. Well i still can;t pronounce them but i now know what they are ment to be like. In my welcome pack i got a letter about taking beginers welsh do you reckon it would be a good thing to do? Ta x
