Ah but I'm in 4th year of a double degree (which I'm now completing part-time, so won't graduate until July 07), and this is admittedly my last assessment item apart from exams.

I am so dreading this weekend. You've only just started hey

About 6000. I used to write crazy long stories when I was about 12, but I won't count them - this one was an English essay.

20'000.

dont even consider it.

I had to write a 5000 essay last year!! Was crazy!! I didn't have a plan as such, just the normal introduction/outline/examples/discussion/conclusion type thing, but i aimed to do 500 words every day which actually helped!!

Good luck with completing it!!

3,500 history coursework for A level. It was more, but i had to cut it down to fit within the limit to the exact amount lol. Supposedly going to have do a 4,000 word essay by end of the year for history degree at university in my first year of being there, so pretty much my essays will have to be getting longer and longer. No real plan to be honest, except an introduction and a conclusion.

My longest was my Chemistry coursework at A2, 13,300 words, and that doesnt include words in diagrams, tables etc.
And best way to get it done, just power on through.

i had a 6000 word essay for A level performance studies. but we'd already written seperate essays on different parts of our peformance so was basically just combining them and adding a bit more

My A level computing project was around 25,000 words and about 115 pages because we had to print of alllll the code we had written for the program.

It had about 40 pages of essay and the rest was code (That I wrote all of - wasnt computer generated!). I think the essay part had around 5500 words.

15,000 word essay on label-switched Networks + diagrams + appendix (code etc). Took me 2-months having read no fewer than 5 whole books including articles from journals and websites.

To think that was only worth 25% of the course module

My third year project was about 22k (18k with the rest dumped in appendices to stay under the word limit!). Glad I don't have to do that again - only made up a fifth of my year in the end as well! And there was me thinking you didn't have to write much for sciencey subjects...

15,000 but i wrote 19,000...

Thus far, about 3500 which I used to write for the weekly GCSE history essays. Since GCSE the longest I've written is 1500 for AS English C/W, but nowadays all teachers seem to want are these 1hour timed essays which are easy but I never really feel satisfied after them.

OMG...what subject was that for?

5 whole books including articles from journals and websites.

That's not really that good for a 15,000 word piece.

30,000 for my Masters - prep was all year, then the writing was done in a three-week intensive block in a nice corner of a bar.
1,000,000 words.
