Will having a cannabis caution, affect my future?

Hi,
Im really panicking at the moment, i received a caution from the police yesterday for having possession of cannabis. I was very good and had a clear record and I've never been in trouble with the police before now, which they thought was amazing considering the community i live in and my age of 17. The police were undercover when they had found me smelling of weed, however they were very nice and were joking with me. Anyways im very worried now that it will affect my future, over such a stupid childish mistake. I would like to apply to university in teesside, to study crime and investigating. Im targeted A*, A and C and am currently on track, my school record is clear and im well known for good work ethic and being on time. I just would like to know where i stand now, will it clear from my record. Also they took some cannabis from me equivalent of 1 and half joints, but i read on the internet about being given a pink slip? I never received one, also they only checked my pockets after openly admitted i had cannabis on me. I was asked some questions while stood on the street, and then had to sign a piece of paper he had written. My parents weren't informed and i was free to go after that.
