Cryotherapy ( skin tag removal )

Hi there!

Went to have a skin tag removed last Friday using Cryotherapy ( freezing of the cells around it ) . He cut the blood supply by using cotton and then used liquid nitrogen I believe to freeze the cells and thus kill them.

Doctor said it would fall off in a few days but, a week later, and it still hasnt. It's gone a bit black ( dead I presume! ) and swelled up a bit but still hasnt fallen off.

Would I be okay to just cut it off with scissors!

thanks

You might want to check with your doctor before you take scissors to any part of your body.

This should be a general rule for all OP's in this forum.
Repeat treatment required - book another appointment with the same doctor.

Don't use the NHS.

When I had a skin tag removed they just cut it off with scissors =/ Gone in seconds.
I got a few removed with liquid nitrogen or something similar ages ago. They dropped off (eventually) but even now, its still noticeable that there was something there. Leave it a bit longer maybe, then perhaps see your doctor if you're worried.

If it's swollen, wait until the swelling has gone, because until the swelling has gone down, you don't know if the cryotherapy has worked properly or not. Then again, if it's a long wait to get into cryotherapy, perhaps re-book now and then you can cancel later if it turns out that the skin tag does come away in the meantime.
I wouldn't recommend using scissors, it's not advisable anyway, but also it might make the cryotherapy less effective and leave scarring.
