I've been at uni for about a month now and am not really enjoying.

My course is amazing! I love it and it is interesting, however where I am staying is horrible. My flatmates don't socialise with me, and I am finding it difficult to make friends.

I have joined a society and like the people there so hopefully ill make some good friends their, but I don't seem to finding a group of friends like everyone else. I feel like everyone else is enjoying uni so much, and i am the only one who isn't liking it.

i came with lots of expectations about uni, hearing things from older friends about how it would be the best time of my life, but so far its not. I thought my flat mates would be like my family, but we didn't even go out together during freshers!!

i made friends with these girls, but they seem to not really want to hang out with me anymore. I'm finding it difficult to adjust, and to fit in with everyone. Im not a girly girl and would rather be out playing football than sit in talking about people. I thought they were really nice, but it seems like they've gone off me, and don't know what I've done!

What I really want to know, is whether other people are feeling the same? And if anyone has been in this situation, and can give me some advise on what to do.

No way am I dropping out of uni, I just want to enjoy it

Nowhere on the UCAS website does it say that uni is going to be everything that you dreamed it would be. You are enjoying your course which is great. The first year is often difficult when it comes to flatmates - because - well everyone is different. You have to make special efforts to make friends I am afraid. If you like football - have you joined the football society - there is one for women. Also think about other clubs - book club is always good - there are often quite shy people there.

I have seen enough on TSR to know that there are hundreds of students at each uni feeling exactly the way you do. Can you post an invite on the uni website for people to meet up and go for a drink, club, etc, You have to make an effort to approach people who look on their own and start conversations. Good luck
