What does it mean to 'Play Hard'

recently I've been hearing the 'work hard play hard' phrase used alot and whilst I understand the concept of hard work, I don't really understand 'Play hard' does this just mean go crazy when you go on a night out, for example I wouldn't consider relaxing to a family guy marathon to come under the title of playing hard, so what does it mean to play hard?
