Tutor groups?

I was just wondering, having seen on my timetable for next week, that we've got to go around and meet our tutors/tutor groups. So would this be like school/college? In that you get a group of 30 people and a teacher to look after you/give you guidence?

Or would it be more like a small group of 4-5people, and a weekly session to talk about your work, make sure everythings going right etc. As i've heard that this is more likley the one that happens

(and i'm doing a science if that makes any difference - Biology)

When I first started Uni I was assigned a tutor group, there was about 7 of us I think. It was crap though, I think we only ever had one meeting and that was it, he forgot about us after that. Hopefully your tutor will be a lot better!!

More like that. It differs between departments what you actually do in your tutor sessions. Some departments set work to do for your sessions whereas some are just to chat about how everything's going and maybe go through some stuff if you are having problems. Luckily for me it's the latter. We normally just have a chat and a laugh with our tutor. It's great!

Also it seems some people have a tutor assigned for each unit they are doing. I just have one for the whole course. Again something that differs between departments.

In my tutor group there 25 of us and for the 1st time my uni is making sure we have a class together each week which is quite good and when we on placement we will meet up every 2 weeks to have a talk about how things are going.

Ditto... there were 15 of us, he introduced himself as our tutor and said if we needed to chat etc where he was and that we could go see him. Apart from lectures with him no one ever went and saw him, despite the fact we were meant too to dicuss our "learning plan" form we were given in the first week!

in my tutor group there is 24 of us and we meet up once every two weeks i think
