Microgynon 30 in Spain

Hey. I'm going abroad as part of my course for about 8 months. The family planning doc gave me 9 months worth or microgynon 30 at a push, but mentioned that it might be able to buy it over-the-counter in Spain. Does anyone know anything about it? Just want to know in case I have to get hold of some as I may be staying longer.

I wouldn't risk foreign drugs personally, my fpc says that I can get up to a years supply of microgynon, for situations like this, do you know why your doc has only given you 9 months worth?

My mother doesn't know that I'm on it :wink:

I guess if it comes to it, I could persuade one of my friends to send me some!!

She told me that it was actually illegal to give me more than 6 month's worth. Also, at the time I didn't know that I'd be staying longer so thought that 9 months worth would've been ok.

How often do I need to see a doctor or nurse?
When you first start the pill you will usually be given three months’ supply to see how it suits you. After that you should go back to the doctor or nurse regularly to get new supplies and to have your blood pressure checked. If there are no problems, you can be given up to a year’s supply of the pill.

Oh right well I don't know what that woman was banging on about then!! I usually just get give 6 months' worth. Either way it's too late for me to get more packs of if anyone knows if you can buy it over the counter or not, I'd be grateful for the info. thanks :smile:
