I got one today  so cool!

But now I need fuel... what should i use? Online, you can buy 'zippo fuel', but it has to be delivered home :frown: Parents wont be too happy like!

So, what else can i use? can I use paraffin oil (kerosine), used in oil lamps? Or does anyone know any major shops/stores which sell Zippo fuel?

Cheers

Can't help you mate sorry; BUT: they definitely are cool.

As tempting as it is, I'm not going to recommend Unleaded Petrol.

I know that in the manual it says only use Zippo fuel. But then Zippo would say that. I just put normal Ronson lighter fluid in my Zippo (you can get this in almost any newsagents/petrol station and it comes in a yellow tin). Hasn't done it any harm in the 5 years or so I've had it....

Do you have to be 18 to buy it?

Errr...I'll pass on that one. Although, seeing as you can buy cigarettes at 16, I'd imagine the same applies for lighter fluid?

Just buy some turpentine or see if you have any at home. You know, the stuff you clean paint brushes with, stinks like hell but is highly flammable.

Yes you do have to be 18 to get lighter fluid because it is a dangerous chemical, disposable lighters, supergule etc are all 18 as well.

I use swan lighter fluid myself but any will do. It just says to use zippo stuff becaese they are advertising their own brand. As previously said most petrol stations, newsagents ect will sell it. Make sure not to get gas though.
If you get it delivered I highly doubt the package will say "ZIPPO FUEL IN HERE LOL" on the outside packaging.

On more than one occasion I have got lighters myself, and noone asked a question :|

I think that only major supermarket chains like Tesco etc will give a damn... a local newsagents wont care much... i think!

My brother had this problem, I think I ended up buying it off of amazon, or from one of the sites linked from amazon. I heard (working in a hardware shop) that zippo fluid is different, but only really in as far as that you lose the "doesn't go out" aspect of a zippo (which is supposed to be their claim to fame) you're supposed to be able to light a zippo and it won't blow out.

this is what the guy looking for it said anyway, I couldn't guarantee that it's accurate though

I always thought it was a retarded thing to do as well. If you're not going to do anything with it, wtf is the point in having one? Do you go to a lot of open-air gigs?

Why do people collect stamps? I personally just like lighters - it gets better when you can do tricks with your zippo

I could understand collecting lighters in that respect because its a hobby and you get some pretty different lighters, but what i can't understand is people that carry around a lighter for no other reason other than they believe it to be cool. You'd be the coolest person around if you set your house on fire arsing around trying to do a 'trick.' Btw, what tricks can possibly be done with a lighter? The only thing I can think of is spinning it around, but surely it would go out if you tried that?
