I personally wouldn't go clubbing on my own, sounds a little sad to be honest.

:ditto: you really cant go out clubbing alone.

Thats not true, i've seen plenty of people out clubbing alone. Including one old guy that i thought was a bouncer watching the dance floor, turned out it was just a 50 year old guy on his own that was checking out the teenagers on the dancefloor. That really made me cringe.
that answers my question, guess i cant really go any of the freshers events i guess:frown:

I dont think freshers events count, cause youre not going alone, you're going with hundreds of other freshers.
I'd meet new people on the way there, at the venue and on the way home - socialising should be a 24/7 background process that you never have to stop nor do to excess.

ive always wanted to go out to a bar on my own one time just to see what its like and if can meet some new people, not clubbing though.
Really depends what type of person you are, if you make friends easily and people find you approachable generally. I have never actually gone out on my own but have ended up losing all my friends but always meet really friendly cool people, this might just be the house music and trance scene as everyone is so friendly and you all have common ground. Ive meet a fair few girls like this and had some really good nights out especially in eden and privelege.

Wouldnt advise it though if you are naturally quite a quiet person as you probably wont enjoy it, always think anyone standing around on their own is a bit odd apart from if they are buying drinks.
I would never go by myself, imagine if you saw someone you knew and they'd be like 'oh so who are you with?' !

Midlife crisis  :yy:
I had to go to the pub alone tonight, for abit! Admittedly was my local, so I knew the owner, bar people and customers..but that made it worse, cos I only know them on greeting terms, so I got a beer and sat by myself for like 15mins waiting for someone I knew to arrive, then another 15mins while he parked his car somewhere, and another 10mins before anyone else we knew arrived, then was loads of us. I almost didnt go in at the start, but then thought "pffft the worst that can happen is i'll get looked at weirdly"..and i was right :P

If you want to go out; go out. It's not sad; you'll meet people there, if you feel confident enough you should go for it.
That said, I wouldn't, only because I don't like clubs though =D
I do enjoy drinking in a bar on my own though.

I wouldn't say it's sad, but I personally wouldn't do it.
I've done it, it's not ideal, in fact it's pretty crap but if you want to go out and there is no one to go with, what option do you have? having said that, I've never been in a nightclub on my own, just a pub/student union
