Chemistry at durham

Hi,
I'm currently studying my AS levels and hope to study chemisty at university, and I'm so in love with durham I really want to up my chances getting in. I'm just really curious if anyone knows how many applicates there are to how many spaces they have on the chemiatry course and also what I can do to impress durham, like will they appreciate me getting some type of work experience involving chemsitry ? And do they appreciate extras like DOFE etc?
Thanks

When I went to a talk by the chem admissions tutor last cycle I think he said ~50% of applicants get offers. DoE is unimportant but work experience would be useful to demonstrate your interest, as it could lead on to a discussion/analysis of what you did. That said, even in the chemistry FAQs (here) they acknowledge the difficulty in getting chemistry work experience so it’s by no means needed - you could just as easily expand on some reading you’ve done to show the same specific interest.
