I'm excluded because they think I'm a drunkard

After I've been out clubbing etc, the people in my uni halls think I'm drunk or something because I tend to become quiet talkative after alcohol and more confident. However they seem to exclude me because they go to place and don't call me etc. What should I do? Have I given people the wrong image?

Maybe you're an irritating drunk, (NB not a drunkard, as I'm sure they don't actually think you're an alcoholic because of freshers' week). Maybe they're just obnoxious dick heads and you haven't realised it yet. Try talking to everybody - I'm sure you'll find a crowd you do fit in to.

OMG, i'm having exactly the same problem. I do like to drink and i find it does give me more confidence. I'm not excluded as you put it, but the people in my flats do look down upon drinking. They believe a glass of wine is ok from time to time, but thats about it. C,mon we're students! I've figured i dont really care anymore, i'll drink if i want and there are tonnes of people in the union who also like drinking, so we're not the outcasts!

Yeah, like someone else said, maybe you talk too much when you're drunk? This happens to me too, I'm extremely shy when sober... But when under the influence my inhibitions drop, and I literally have to be gagged in order to shut me up.

I've done some instantly forgettable things in my first week whilst drinking but not because I am a drunkard, just because I am feeling ill and alcohol isn't agreeing with me/peer pressure etc.

And people must think I'm a Jekyll and Hyde monster because of my mixed personality whilst drinking. It doesn't help if you become naive too . :frown:
